Ling's pov
The next day, I returned home, my mind still clouded with frustration and anger. I'd chosen to sleep at Orm's place the night before; otherwise, I might have actually killed my brother. I couldn't bear the thought of staying under the same roof with him after what he'd done.
As soon as I stepped inside the house, I headed straight upstairs, not bothering to take off my shoes. My fists clenched involuntarily as I approached his bedroom door, and without knocking, I pushed it open.
"Ling?" Bright's groggy voice greeted me as he stirred from his sleep, his eyes barely open.
"Bright, do you have something to tell me?" I asked, my tone sharp and unforgiving. I stood at the doorway, arms crossed, staring down at him with a look that could cut glass.
He blinked a few times, trying to wake up fully. "No?" he answered, confused and still half-asleep.
"Fine," I said, my voice cold as ice. "I'm going to move to my own apartment, okay?"
"What?" He sat up straight, the sleep now completely gone from his eyes. "But why so suddenly?"
"I can't live with someone who stabs me in the back," I replied, my voice laced with bitterness. I watched as the realization dawned on him, the guilt flashing across his face.
"She told you," he muttered, more to himself than to me.
"Of course she did. And she already knows about your 'friend,'" I spat, the word 'friend' dripping with sarcasm.
"You told her?!?" he snapped, anger flaring in his eyes as he jumped out of bed.
"Yeah, I told her!" I shot back, my voice rising with each word. "I would never let her be manipulated by you again."
"What exactly did you tell her!?" he practically screamed, stepping forward and shoving me in the shoulder, his frustration boiling over.
That was the last straw. My body tensed as I shot him a warning glare. "Touch me again, and you won't have the capacity to cheat on any other person," I warned, my voice low and dangerous. The menace in my tone was enough to make him back off, his anger faltering as he realized he'd crossed a line.
...
Later that day, Orm helped me pack up my things. I didn't have much to move, but the weight of the situation made every item I packed feel like a burden. As we loaded the last box into my car, I turned to her, grateful for her support.
"Thanks for helping me pack up," I said, my tone softening as I looked at her.
"You don't have to thank me," Orm replied with a small smile. "Now we'll have more privacy."
Something in her tone triggered a playful spark in me. I couldn't resist teasing her. I wrapped my arm around her waist and pulled her closer, a mischievous grin spreading across my face. "What do you need privacy for?" I asked, my voice dropping to a sultry whisper.
Orm's cheeks flushed, but she didn't back down. "Ling! Move to your apartment first," she scolded, but her eyes twinkled with amusement.
Before I could respond, Bright's voice boomed from the doorway. "Got what you mean!" I called back with a smirk, quickly releasing Orm from my hold.
...
I drove us to my apartment, eager to show her my new space. As we walked inside, Orm's eyes widened in surprise.
"Wow, it looks like you've been living here for a while," she remarked, taking in the cozy setup.
"I have," I admitted, opening my luggage to start unpacking. "I come here every time you two are at home."
"Why?" she asked, her voice innocent and curious.
I glanced at her, a sly smile playing on my lips. "I thought you two would do things some couples do," I replied, trying to sound nonchalant, though my mind was racing with all the things I imagined might have happened between her and Bright.
"Hm," Orm hummed thoughtfully, her expression shifting as she stepped closer. Suddenly, she pushed me onto the couch, her hands firm on my shoulders. "Want to be one of those couples?" she asked, her voice a playful challenge.
"Always," I answered without hesitation, pulling her onto my lap. My heart raced as our bodies pressed together, her warmth seeping into me. I could feel the tension between us, a magnetic pull that was hard to resist.
"Naughty," she teased, her voice a breathy whisper as she slid off my lap, leaving me wanting more.
I sighed, watching her with a mixture of amusement and longing. "Okay, now go home and tell me when you arrive," I said, trying to regain some self-control.
"I'm helping you," she insisted, her stubbornness showing.
"No way," I replied, shaking my head. "You've already helped me enough."
"Okay, but I'll come back," she said, her tone half-serious, half-playful.
"Don't say that," I warned, the memory of her last promise still fresh in my mind.
"Why?" she asked, her eyebrows furrowing in confusion.
"Because the last time you said it, you ignored me for three days," I reminded her, my voice tinged with a hint of vulnerability. I reached out, grabbing her waist and pulling her close, not wanting to let her go.
She looked at me, a soft smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "You really missed me, huh," she said, her voice warm as she leaned in and gave me a soft peck on the lips. The simple gesture sent a wave of comfort through me, easing the lingering tension.
"Use this time to control your naughty side," she whispered playfully in my ear, her breath sending shivers down my spine.
"Okay," I agreed, my voice low. "Even though I know you love it."
"Bye, Ling," she said, separating from me with a final, teasing smile before heading out of the apartment.
As the door closed behind her, I leaned back on the couch, letting out a deep breath. My mind was still reeling from everything that had happened, but despite the chaos, I couldn't help but smile. Orm had that effect on me—making everything feel just a little bit better, even when everything else seemed to be falling apart.
