4 years later

Narrator's POV

Four years had passed since Orm last stood on familiar ground. The world had changed, and so had she. But as she found herself in front of Yoko's door, it felt as if time had barely moved. The familiar wooden door, the slight creak it made when opened—everything was as she remembered. Taking a deep breath, Orm raised her hand and knocked.

Knock, knock.

The door swung open, revealing Yoko's surprised face. Her eyes widened in recognition before a wide smile spread across her face, lighting up with joy. Without a word, she threw her arms around Orm, pulling her into a tight, warm embrace. The years melted away in that moment, and it was as if they had never been apart.

"Orm!" Yoko exclaimed, her voice brimming with excitement and relief.

"Heyyy!" Orm replied, her voice tinged with the same excitement. The hug was tight, filled with the warmth of missed years and memories that had lingered in their hearts.

Yoko finally pulled back to look at her, her eyes scanning Orm's face, taking in the familiar features she hadn't seen in so long. "You're back!" she said, her tone both surprised and delighted.

"I am!" Orm confirmed, her smile wide and genuine. It felt good to be home, to be with people who knew her, who understood her without words.

Yoko's eyes softened as she studied her friend. "How have you been all this time? Anyone special in your life?"

Orm's smile faltered for just a moment, a flicker of pain crossing her features. "I've been good," she said with a sigh that spoke volumes of the unspoken. "But... still not over Ling."

Yoko's expression turned sympathetic. She knew the depth of Orm's feelings, how much Ling had meant to her, and how difficult it had been for her to let go. "If you want to find her, she's working with Faye now," Yoko offered gently, sensing Orm's lingering attachment.

Orm quickly shook her head, as if to shake off the weight of the conversation. She forced a smile, trying to change the subject. "How have you been while I was gone?"

Yoko's face lit up with a soft, contented smile. "I've been good. And now, I'm married to Faye."

The news hit Orm like a gentle wave, unexpected but not unwelcome. Her eyes widened in surprise. "Why didn't you call me to your wedding?" she asked, though there was no anger in her voice, only curiosity mixed with a hint of sadness.

Yoko's smile turned apologetic. "You were so far away, and Ling was going. I didn't want there to be any tension. I'm sorry."

Orm nodded, understanding the delicate balance Yoko had tried to maintain. "It's okay," she said, though her voice carried that familiar tinge of sadness. "She wouldn't have gone if I was there anyway."

Yoko looked at her friend seriously, her eyes searching Orm's. "Orm, didn't you say you'd never give up on her?"

Orm's resolve seemed to waver for a moment before she sighed, her voice faltering as she spoke. "I did," she admitted, her heart heavy with the truth. "But... she moved on. She's dating Win."

Yoko raised an eyebrow, the news surprising her. "How did you find out?"

Orm's voice was barely above a whisper, tinged with the pain of a love lost. "Her Instagram," she replied simply.

Yoko's heart ached for her friend. She reached out, placing a comforting hand on Orm's arm. "I'm sorry," she said softly, her tone filled with genuine empathy. "But why don't you at least try to be her friend?"
