Orm's pov

The day was already turning out to be one of those gray, cloud-covered days where the sun stubbornly refuses to shine. I'd barely managed to pull myself together after that harrowing encounter with Ling the night before, where she'd been drunk and vulnerable, only to now find myself standing outside her office. My hand hesitated on the doorknob, but I forced myself to enter.

As I walked in, the atmosphere in the room hit me like a wall. It was heavy, tense, and suffocating. Ling sat at her desk, her posture rigid, her eyes fixed on me with an unreadable expression.

"I'm here," I said, my voice barely masking the nerves churning in my stomach.

"With that?" she replied, her tone dripping with judgment as she eyed my clothes—an oversized shirt and Ling's old shorts I'd "borrowed" years ago. I could almost see the disdain in her eyes.

"Want me to go back home to change and be even later?" I snapped, feeling my anger start to rise. It was a defensive mechanism, something to shield myself from the truth I wasn't ready to face.

"Sit here," she ordered, pointing to a chair beside her desk.

I reluctantly complied, dropping into the chair and watching as she continued to examine the paperwork spread across her desk. Her silence was unnerving, and I could feel the tension rising between us like a storm about to break.

"What's the problem?" I finally asked, leaning in to get a glimpse of her computer screen.

"You aren't doing your work," she said coldly, her eyes never leaving the screen.

"What? No way," I replied, leaning in closer. "Where's the problem?"

"The fact that you gave me a fake form and a fake document," she said, her voice deadly calm as she looked at me, her gaze piercing through my defenses.

I felt my throat tighten as I gulped down the lump forming there. "What?"

"Orm, I know it's you," she said, her voice softening just a fraction, but the disappointment in her tone was unmistakable.

"How?" I asked, my heart pounding in my chest.

"I searched for Earn Sanithada," she explained, her eyes narrowing. "And also, give me your hand."

Hesitantly, I extended my hand, and she took it, her fingers tracing the familiar ring that I still wore. "If you broke up with me, why do you still wear our dating ring?" she asked, her voice laced with both hurt and curiosity.

"I... I think it's pretty," I stammered, my voice betraying how weak my excuse was.

"Orm," she said, her voice full of exasperation.

"Fine, I lied," I admitted, my voice tinged with defeat.

"No shit," she retorted sarcastically, her tone making it clear that she had expected nothing less.

"Okay, Miss I-Know-It-All," I snapped, anger bubbling to the surface. "Tell me what you think I lied about."

"About who you are," she said, her voice steady but filled with a mixture of anger and sadness.

"You're never going to forget it, are you? Move on! I was talking about—" I started, my voice rising in frustration, but she cut me off sharply.

"Yeah, it looks like you can't move on, coming here," she shot back, her words dripping with sarcasm.

Before I could respond, the door to her office swung open, and a man entered. I recognized him immediately as Win, her current boyfriend.

"Perfect," she said, her voice suddenly cheerful as she turned to him. "Let's go, baby. Let's go have lunch." She leaned in to kiss him, their arms tangling together in a display of affection that made my blood boil.
