Orm's pov
I was getting ready for my mom's event, standing in front of the mirror and trying on yet another dress. I had a panel of judges with me—or rather, just one judge. Yoko was critically seated on my bed, watching my every move with an analytical eye.
"Is this one good?" I asked, twirling slightly in the dress and looking at her expectantly.
"Perfect!" she declared, giving her stamp of approval.
Satisfied with the choice, we headed out of my room and made our way to her car. I was riding with Yoko, but the downside was that Faye was coming along too. I couldn't help but feel like I was third-wheeling their little duo, but I tried not to let it bother me.

When we arrived at the event, I stepped out of the car and made my way inside. As soon as I entered, I scanned the room for my mom and quickly spotted her.
"Hey, Mom!" I called out, walking over to her and wrapping her in a hug.
"Orm! I haven't seen you in years! Look at my baby!" she exclaimed, her hands flying to my cheeks, pinching them like I was still a kid.
"Mom!" I protested, pulling away slightly, but I couldn't help the smile that tugged at my lips.
"I haven't seen you, but I've heard some stories," she said with a knowing look.
"I'll tell you everything later," I promised, trying to avoid the topic for now.
"Okay," she agreed, releasing me from her hold.
I excused myself and made my way toward my friends, eager to catch up.
"Charlotte, hey!" I greeted her as I approached.
"Hey, Orm!" she replied, her eyes lighting up when she saw me. "Hey!!"
"I heard you're dating," she teased, nudging me playfully.
"I kinda am," I admitted, feeling a bit shy under her knowing gaze.
"Who?" she asked, curiosity piqued.
"Bright's sister," I answered, watching as her eyes widened in surprise.
"Ling? Oh my, you two are so cute," she gushed.
"Thanks," I said, chuckling softly. I couldn't help the warmth that spread through me at the thought of Ling.
But then, out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a familiar figure—one I would never mistake. My heart skipped a beat as I realized who it was.
"Bright?" I called out as I walked toward him.
"Hey, Orm," he greeted me casually.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, my surprise evident in my tone.
"I was invited by your mom," he explained, shrugging.
"Is Ling here as well?" I asked, glancing around the room.
"Yeah, I think she was looking for you," he replied.
As soon as he said that, I didn't waste a second. I hurried through the crowd, searching for her. My heart pounded in my chest as I pushed past people, desperate to find her. Suddenly, I felt someone's arms wrap around me from behind, and a familiar scent filled my senses.
"Boo," she whispered in my ear, laughing softly.
I turned around, a smile spreading across my face. "You're here!"
"Yeah," she said, her expression shifting to something more serious. "Can we leave for a sec? I really need to talk to you."
