I woke up to see my husband sleeping peacefully, his protective arms wrapped around me. Gently, I shifted and planted a soft kiss on his lips.
"Happy birthday, Jaan," I whispered. "Thank you for coming into this world and for being my man. We've come so far together, and soon it'll be six months. From calling you 'Mr. Devil Jerk Kapoor' to now calling you 'Jaan'—well, you are my Jaan, and it still feels so surreal. Thank you for being by my side and for putting up with me. I love you with all my heart. You look so adorable, like a baby... and I wouldn't mind having one of our own," I added with a sweet kiss on his forehead.
Carefully freeing myself from his embrace, I slipped into the bathroom, my mind still spinning with ideas on how to keep him in the room all day.
Ayaan opened his eyes and saw Kiana disappearing into the bathroom. A smile crept onto his face, as carefree as that of a teenage boy. After all, why wouldn't he be smiling? His tigress had just expressed herself, and every word she said had touched his heart deeply. The fear and anticipation that once weighed him down were erased by her soothing words. He knew her love had changed him. Yet, a lingering trace of fear remained at the bottom of his heart—the fear of losing her, the fear of seeing his beautiful life shattered by someone.
When he replayed her last sentence about having their baby, he imagined how she would look, her belly swelled with their child. A tender smile appeared on his face as he envisioned it, but reality pulled him back—he knew Kiana was still taking birth control pills.
For now, though, he quietly got out of bed and left the room, careful not to make a sound so Kiana wouldn't realize her surprise might be ruined. He could already sense the hustle and bustle of the trio preparing the house for the celebration, their efforts visible everywhere. Ayaan smiled at how much everyone was doing to make the day special.
He placed his finger on a sensor, and the door to a room slid open. It was Darsh's room—his brother, whom he had lost. No one was allowed in here; Ayaan couldn't bear anyone disturbing the sanctity of this space. A large framed photograph of Darsh hung on the wall, his belongings meticulously arranged around the room. Ayaan walked over to the picture and gazed at his brother, unshed tears clouding his eyes. He smiled at the sight of Darsh's laughing face, captured forever in that moment.
