“What’s going on?”, I heard someone mutter. I stared blankly at the people in front on me. That was my room and my stage and seeing others using it didn’t sit well with me. I wanted them to leave but couldn’t say anything, after all I gave it all up when I ended it with the Nest. I sighed and tried my best to relax and enjoy the performance but couldn’t despite how much I tried to. I picked up a bottle and chugged the drink as fast as I could trying to get my mind off whatever was going on in the room to no avail.
“Penny, is everything alright?”, I heard from someone. I turned to see a worried Bryan and I smiled. I nodded and continued my drink.
“Take your time Penny. It’s not as if you’re dancing today”, Haven teased. I knew what she was trying to achieve and I steeled myself against her taunts but the more I did the more I felt annoyed. I saw an amused Seth watching the commotion between his sister and me and that irked me the more.
“I’m going to make you regret this”, I found myself slurring out. I stood and walked to the stage stretching to warm up as best as I could within that short time. Luckily for me I wore clothes that didn’t constrict my movement at all. I stood on the familiar stage and looked at all of them feeling energised once more.
“What is she doing there? Why is everyone silent looking at her?”, I heard someone, I guess Bryan ask. I giggled at him and I pointed at Haven.
“I’m not doing this without you”, I declared getting the attention to her with mouths agape.
“What does she mean by that?”, they murmured among themselves.
They all turned to her questioning my words and she shook her head as if realizing what I had done.
“Haven taught me to dance”, I answered and they were even more surprised, even Seth and Marcus. After a lot of persuasion from everyone, she joined me on the stage to dance and I grinned at her.
“I got you back”, I teased and she shook her head at my childishness. I knew I wasn’t the only reason she decided to dance but just shrugged it off since it was their issues and they needed to sort it out themselves. I wasn’t a lightheaded person like Haven was but I could be childish when drunk enough. We had become accustomed to each other and was always in sync whenever we danced, since we used to train together while I was at the Nest. We excused the ladies from earlier and got ready to dance.
“I’m done for”, I whispered and she nodded to herself. I worried we might be out of sync with how long we had danced together but realized all was just in my head. We may have not danced for a while but our bodies knew and trusted each other.
“Wow, I never knew she could dance like that”, I heard and turned to his direction.
“Do you like what you saw?”, I asked and he gulped. I giggled at his reaction and walked off the stage.
“I have watched you dance before but you always find ways to leave me dumbfounded. I wonder how Bryan is doing, you know after the whole liking you phase and you drop this on him now. You are one wicked soul, Penny”, Ezra complained when I sat back in my seat.
“Hey, do one thing at a time. You can’t compliment and complain together”, I chastised and went back to the drinks on the table.
I looked in Seth’s direction and found him sulking so decided to stop teasing him. I moved towards him and knelt in front of him.
“Love, is anything the matter?”, I asked caressing his face. He averted his gaze and I giggled at him. I pulled his face towards me and placed a light kiss on his lips.
“Please don’t be mad anymore”, I whined still caressing his face.
“Let’s go”, he said instead pulling me with him.
“Keys”, he added to no one but Haven handed a key to him and we left.
“Good luck”, I heard before the door closed behind me.
“I’m sorry”, I kept repeating how sorry I was even though I wasn’t sure what exactly I was sorry about, but he ignored me the whole time and just kept pulling me with him. We stopped in front of a door and he opened it pulling me inside. He locked it and pushed me against the door.
“What is it that you keep apologising about? What exactly are you sorry for?”, he breathed out looking intensely at me and I knew something was wrong. I tried to choose my words carefully to not poke this already roaring lion in front of me. He moved away from me as if to collect his thoughts.
“Well, I shouldn’t have ignored you when you called me over earlier and I shouldn’t have danced the way I did with other males present in the room, but to be fair it’s not like it was totally my fault. I wouldn’t have done that if you weren’t ogling at those girls earlier and didn’t….”, I blurted out going silent when I noticed how much I had said.
“Didn’t what?”, he asked getting closer to me.
“It’s nothing, just forget I said anything”, I tried to move away from him but he held me back.
“Penny, you know you can blurt as much as you want with me right? No filter or pauses, you have to be open to me about what worries you and hurts you. I won’t reprimand you at all”, he assures.
“You didn’t seem to enjoy my dance like you used to and you paid more attention to the other girls than you did to me”, I whispered hoping he didn’t hear me.
He muttered some words under his breath which I failed to catch making me look up at him. He looked frustrated about something and run his hand through his hair as if to calm down.
“Not enjoy your dance? Not pay attention to you? As if I could do that. My attention has been on you the whole night and you affect me a lot just as much as you used to if not more”, he explained clearing the doubts from my mind but I remained silent.
“Do you know hard it was to control myself and not jump you as you danced in front of all our friends? Hell, I wanted to pull you out of the room and have my way with you the moment you started dancing to the point where it felt like you were punishing me”, he added when he realised I was still in doubt. I blushed at what he said still avoiding his gaze.
“Love”, he called pulling my face to his. He held my face close to his preventing me from averting my gaze. He placed a light kiss on my lips causing my eyes to dart to his.
“You affect me more than you think Penny and I don’t want you to think otherwise”, he whispered against my lips before placing his lips on mine for a passionate kiss. I let all the doubt go and pulled him more to me as if trying to mold each other as one. I pulled away from him trying to catch my breath but he didn’t give me any time to run away from him as he attacked me once again with kisses.
“Does this prove how much I want you or do you want more proof?”, he whispered against my ears kissing my neck towards my soft spot. I relished his touch and kisses until I felt air against my body. I opened my eyes wondering what had happened. I found him seated on a bed and looked at him confused. I was surprised to find a bed in the room we were in since I didn’t notice it the first time we entered.
“Do you not recognise our room?”, he asked confusing me more.
‘Wasn’t the room earlier mine?’, I wondered.
“Haven never changed your room. She just wanted to tease you when she said that”, he answered the question written all over my face.
“That’s so her”, I mumbled shaking my head at her childishness.
I walked to him trying not to seem too eager to get to him. Noticing what I was doing, he smirked and pulled me to him placing me beneath him.
