“What do you mean by dancing for you?”, I asked perplexed.
“It is as I said. You love dancing and I don’t want to stop you from doing what you want but I can’t stand people ogling at you. Do you know how hard it was to control myself whenever you danced at the Nest?”, he explained clenching his fist.
“But….”, I started but he interrupted me.
“Just think about it okay. You can take all the time you need to think about it just don’t keep long with it, please”, he said holding my hand.
“Fine, I’ll think about it”, I said and got lost in my thoughts.
“What is the matter?”, he asked when he realized I was lost for a while.
“Why do you want to date me? It just doesn’t make sense why you of all people will want to date me, so tell me why”, I asked expectantly.
“Would you believe me if I told you it was because I was in love with you?”, he asked sounding sincere but there was no way he would be in love with me. A Casanova/CEO and a dancer/student? Nah I don’t see that working.
“You can’t be in love with me. Maybe you’re just confused. Until some weeks ago you didn’t even know I was the woman you were spending your nights with”
“But I know now and that’s what is important. We both know who we are and what we do, isn’t that enough?”
“Seth, it’s still not a good idea for us to be together. Those nights were spent with no feelings attached. We agreed on that and there is nothing to change that fact”, I said feeling a pang in my chest with every word I uttered but it was better to end things now than to suffer and regret it later.
“Are you sure you didn’t feel anything during the time we spent together?”, he asked and I felt bad with how he sounded but I had to hold on to my resolve.
“You can’t do this Seth, what happened between us was just spontaneous and there was nothing we could do”
“Then what about Paris? Was that spontaneous too? Did you feel nothing even then too?”, he asked and I could hear the quiver in his voice.
“Please stop doing this. Paris was a mistake and it wasn’t supposed to mean anything. You said it yourself, we were in a contract by then and you weren’t liable to anything that happened between us”, I said looking at him and sighed.
“It meant nothing?”, he mumbled and I tried to hold his hand but stopped myself.
“Seth, you are just confused about the whole thing. You think you love me because you found out I was the woman you were intimate with but have you thought of what you would have done if I wasn’t that woman? Would you have easily said you loved me if you found out that the woman at the Nest and the woman in Paris were different people?”
“I…I”, he started to say but stopped.
“You don’t need to answer me now, I just thought you needed to hear this so you could think about what you truly wanted”, I said looking at him. Even though I felt a little for him I still wasn’t sure if I really wanted to stay with him, so we both needed to step back and think about what to do next.
“You know what, let’s just sleep. We can start thinking about this tomorrow. I’m tired and sleepy”, I said when it didn’t look like he had anything else to say. “Come here and let’s sleep”, I said pulling him to me so we could sleep.
“Goodnight Seth”, I said already dozing off.
“Goodnight Penny”, I heard him whisper and everything went black.
“You can’t go back. You have to spend the whole weekend with me to compensate for all those missed days”, Haven whined pouting while we had breakfast the next morning.
“But I need to get back to school and get things ready for studies”, I replied after swallowing the food in my mouth.
“Seth please tell her to stay”, she whined continuously at him.
“Haven behave. She has to prepare for her studies so don’t delay her”, he chastised her avoiding my gaze completely. Things became awkward between us since we woke up and he decided to avoid me and anything that had to do with me.
“Meanie, as if he won’t miss her too”, she mumbled rolling her eyes at him and sulked at me.
“I can stay for some time”, I sighed giving up.
“Nice”, she cheered and I smiled. I saw Seth smile and I admired how handsome he looked. Even though I stayed because she asked, I still wanted to spend some time I had with him too. I wasn’t ready to part with them yet. We spoke about a lot of things and I was even surprised about how much we had to tell each other. I guess having an extrovert like Haven as a friend meant more information for me.
“I need to go now, it’s getting late”, I said glancing at the clock in the room.
“Already? But I still don’t want you to go”, she whined and I rolled my eyes at her. Haven can really be a baby at times. I shook my head at her behaviour and went for my bag from Seth’s room.
“I’m leaving”, I told them and looked in his direction. He avoided my gaze and I felt Haven look at both of us. “See you later Haven”, I said smiling and turned from him to leave.
“Wait”, I heard and stopped. I turned to his direction to see him arrange his things and stand up.
“What is it?”
“Let me see you off”, he said and passed by me, leaving me stuck in my spot wondering what just happened.
“Aren’t you coming?”, I heard startling me. I waved at Haven and walked out.
“Stay safe”, she shouted behind me and I blushed at the meaning of her words.
“Are you staying in the dorms or off campus?”, he asked as I entered his car.
“I’m on campus. Why are you asking?”
“Am I not supposed to know? I just want to know, also I have to know if I am to send you to school, right”, he said confusing me.
“You are sending me to school?”, I asked and he nodded. “You don’t need to, you can just see me off at the main street I can order a ride back to school”.
“Just let me send you okay. I have nothing doing at the moment and I want to go with you too, no harm done”, he said and I let it go. Who would want to miss this chance to be with him? I smiled hoping the ride would take longer than the usual but as if fate was playing tricks on me we arrived earlier than usual. It was true when they said fun moments never lasted long. I pouted thinking about how long I had to wait before meeting him again. I unfastened the seat belt and prepared to alight when he stopped me.
“Penny please promise me you will at least think about what I said okay”, he said holding my hand.
“Seth...I…”, I started but he interrupted.
“Please just promise me, I’ll wait for as long as it will take you but please don’t let me wait for long okay”, he said and I could hear the desperation in his voice.
“Fine, I promise to think about it”, I said sighing.
“Thank you”, he said and I nodded. I tried to get my hand from his to leave but he held on firmly. I raised my brow to question his behaviour but all he did was to kiss the hand he held. He sighed and left my hand mumbling to himself. I looked at him in confusion and saw him gripping the wheel as if to restrain himself.
“Seth, is everything alright?”, I asked seeing him struggling with himself.
“I’m okay, you can leave now”, he said with his head against the wheel.
“Seth look at me and tell me what’s wrong with you”, I said and raised his head to look at me.
“I’m serious, it’s nothing”, he said not looking at me.
“Seth please”, I drawled.
“It’s nothing serious. It’s just that I don’t know when else we might meet and it’s taking everything in me to control myself from attacking you now”, he said leaning in to my hand relishing my touch. I giggled at him and touched his lips.
“I hope this will satiate you enough”, I said and he looked at me confused. I placed a quick kiss on his lips and tried to move away but he held my head deepening the kiss. We separated and touched our foreheads against each other.
“What am I going to do with you? You better hurry leave if you want to go back to your room in one piece”, he mumbled and I giggled. I moved away and alighted before he could change his mind. I waved at him and rushed into the dorm building smiling the whole time till I entered my room.
