Meanwhile, at the Country Club.
"And the arch is supposed to be over there. We are going to be able to have the fairy lights, right?" Delilah asked as she ordered them around the country club, where the reception was going to be.
"Hey, I brought the new glasses. They arrived at the restaurant." Anna said as she and Mike walked in with boxes labeled fragile.
"Shush... She's in bossing mode." Kai chuckled, sitting over to the side as she played a card game with Wheezie.
"Oh, gosh... Where do you think she'd want the boxes?" Anna asked, glancing over at her mother.
"Ask Rose. She's over the table decor." Kai pointed over to the blonde woman who was working on the table centerpieces with Sarah.
"So, what are you doing?" Mike asked with a slight chuckle.
"Waiting for my soon-to-be husband to bring me food," Kai said with a smirk as Mike chuckled.
"Ah... Got him working hard already." Mike chuckled, earning a slight glare from his wife.
"You know it, Mike," Kai smirked at him before turning her attention back to the game. "Oh, is it my turn?" She asked as Wheezie nodded.
"Yeah... You gonna draw?"
"Yeah, I'm gonna have to. We don't have nothin' in the pile." Kai pouted a bit, picking up a card.
Meanwhile, at the motel.
"Should we peel?" Kie asked Pope as they snuck back to the boat.
"You never leave a Pogue behind," Pope sighed, glancing back at Kie sitting in the driver's seat.
"No, seriously, should we peel?" Kie asked, making Pope sigh.
"Maybe..." Pope sighed in defeat since he and Kie could not risk getting in trouble.
"Go ahead and check the bathroom." Deputy Shoupe said to his other officer, Deputy Plumb, as they put on gloves.
"Yes, sir." Plumb nodded, heading to check the bathroom and pulling the curtain back. "It's clear," Plumb said, seeing that the shower and the whole bathroom were empty.
Meanwhile, John B and JJ stood on the side of the window ledge, hiding from the two deputies inside the room. John B glanced in the room from the small hole in the blinds before looking over to JJ.
"What are you guys doing?" Pope mouthed as JJ and John B looked over to the boat.
"Oh, my..." Kie scoffed, looking at the two boys.
John B motioned for them to be quiet and pretend they were not there. JJ was smiling, motioning for them to be quiet.
Inside the room, Shoupe found the safe that was still open since the boys were rushing to close the cabinet. "I said it. Didn't I say it?" Shoupe chuckled, looking back at Plumb.
There was the folder and stacks of cash, but the two deputies did not see the gun or notice some missing money. Shoupe pulled out the folder, opening it to see pictures of what looked like a shipwreck. There was a fuzzy photo of an angel. He recognized it a bit but had no idea where he had seen this before.
"Go ahead. Throw these in a bag, would you?" Shoupe asked Plumb when he put the photos back in the folder.
"Yes, sir."
John B continued to watch through the hole-in-blinds, seeing Shoupe hold up one of the stacks of cash.
"Sir?" Plumb asked, turning to the deputy.
"Everybody's gotta dip their beak." Shoupe chuckled, glancing at the large stack of cash in his hands.
"What the--" JJ went to whisper, watching and listening with John B.
"Right, right... Their beak." Plumb said as the two deputies chuckled, putting the money in the bag to take in as investigation.
"Do you believe--" JJ went to say something to John B, but he moved, causing the gun he hid in his shorts to fall, hitting the ground below them.
John B groaned to himself, moving to ensure the deputies could not see them. JJ moved closer to the wall, trying to hide as well.
"This is... Wow..." Plumb said, seeing the large bills, while Shoupe heard the thud of the gun outside.
Shoupe moved, taking his gloves off as he opened the blinds. Pope and Kie moved to act like they were taking a break from going on the boat. Shoupe did not see John B or JJ. He just noticed Kie and Pope, who he could not tell exactly who they were from the distance.
"No one's here." Shoupe shrugged, moving from the window.
"Well, that was fun," JJ said, sitting on the boat's bow as the group returned to the island. "Could have warned us sooner." He added, looking at his friends.
"We would have... except Pope was on the math team." Kie sighed, sitting on the side of the boat.
"You were on the math team?" JJ asked Pope with a chuckle.
"The cops took everything like it was a crime scene," Pope sighed, trying to change the subject since he embarrassed himself a bit. "Did you guys find anything?" He asked, looking at the three nearly caught by the police.
"Did we find anything?" he asked as he reached for the stack of cash and gun he had taken from the motel room. "No, I don't think so... Oh, yeah, we did," JJ smirked, holding up the two items.
"What the--"
"Dude, what?"
Pope and Kie scoffed at JJ, while John B sighed, knowing he could not stop JJ's kleptomaniac tendencies.
"Dude, chill... Come on." JJ shrugged, getting up to walk over to Pope.
"Why would you take that from a crime scene?" Pope asked, scoffing at his friend.
"Better than the cops having it." JJ shrugged, acting like it was not a big deal.
"You serious?" Kie scoffed, looking at John B, who just shrugged.
"I'm gonna lose my merit scholarship." Pope sighed when JJ moved his gun closer to Pope.
"Hey, hey, hey. Sh... sh, sh..." JJ tried to calm him when Pope pushed the gun away from his face. "At least you have us, right?" He asked while Pope sighed again before he sat back on the seat behind John B.
"I'm living the nightmare." Pope sighed, sitting down in defeat.
