And so, the kegger began.

The group headed to the boneyard to have a kegger that evening. Pope carried packs of red solo cups from his dad's shop. Kie carried the spout, while JJ and John B had the silver keg. JJ put the spout on the keg. The friends wasted time to start the party as JJ sprayed the beer in John B's face, trying to get it in his mouth. Pope refused the beer since he felt like he was going to be the responsible one.

After a little bit, word got out about the kegger. And the beach started to get crowded.

*

"All right. You can't understand the Outer Banks without understanding the boneyard. It's kinda like a three-layer burrito."

*

"Yo, what's up, homie?" John B smiled at some kids he knew from the Cut, who came up to the beer keg while it was John B's turn to control it.

"What's up, man?" The blond Pogue greeted him while John B handed him a drink.

*

"There's us and our friends, the working-class derelicts.

POGUES."

*

Then, a boy in a pastel polo came up, skipping a few people in the keg line. John B did not look so happy as he teased the guy with the beer, moving it away until the Kook had enough, taking the cup, causing it to spill a bit on his hand.

*

"Then, there are the Kooks... the rich second-homers. They're mostly from poncey boarding schools, just rich trustafarian posers.

Our natural enemies."

*

Then, a group of tourists came up. The girls were smirking and giggly as they got to talk to JJ and John B after JJ joined John B at the keg.

*

"And then, there are the Tourons.

Totally clueless. Here for a week on vacation with their families. Chum for the sharks."

*

The party continued.

John B spent most of the party talking and flirting with a blonde touron.

Pope tried to talk to some girls but failed.

Kie was hanging out with her hippie Pogue friends, whom she would hang out with at keggers and parties.

JJ was just doing what he usually does—getting drunk and having fun.

The Richards' house.

Kai continued to box up her room since she was just a few days away from marrying Rafe, who was lying on the bed, playing a game on his phone.
