Chapter Eight: Back on the road!
After a lengthy talk, Ash convinced them to get back to traveling with their new friend. Marnie and Ash were a little tense around the fighting specialist at first but got comfortable.
Ash's wounds were still grievous, but he lived. They were healing, all bet slowly. His movements were slow, but he could move. Currently Freeze was on his head. While Bonnie was comparing Pokemon with Gloria, Korrina and Marnie were talking adamantly.
Freeze's fire expanded recently, which Ash thought she had gotten a lot stronger. Ash still only had 2 evolutions to his name, which he was not happy about. Neither were his other pokemon.
Ash's companions all had evolutions, even Marnie's Impidimp had evolved. Though Ash's team was stronger than them. The trainer had concluded. Sure, they were ready, heck, more than ready, but one thing was stopping them.
Themselves. Take Reaper for example. The ghost type was more powerful than ever, but he didn't evolve because he wasn't ready. He didn't believe he was ready. None of them did. If they wanted to evolve, Ash wasn't going to drag the potential out of them. They'd do that themselves.
Freeze, still on Ash's shoulder, made an overheat. The candle clapped her hands, proud. Ash tickled the Pokemon a little, proud. Korrina watched, a look of longing. Marnie signed, hating what she was about to do. The blonde girl wasn't in her normal skating clothes, wearing regular clothes but still had her retractable skates on.
Marnie: Fighter, are you alright?
Korrina: Again, not my name. And I'm not alright.
Marnie: I'm really bad with feelings, so make it quick before I change my mind. Talk rollerblade.
Korrina: It's about Ash. And I am not rollerblade, I don't even have my helmet and stuff on.
Marnie: It usually is. (Sighs) Let me guess. You're incredibly attracted to him, most likely love, you feel bad for "competing" with me and Gloria, and also feel bad because your jerk of a grandad almost got him killed. Did I miss anything?
Korrina: Well, no.
Marnie: Well, I can't help with your love issue, but your Grandad's decision is not yours. It's his, and I doubt Giritina will have peace on his soul.
Korrina: Thanks, I think.
Marnie: You're a decent person, something which irritates me to know end. Cut ties with your mentor. It is the safest option.
Korrina: Because you'll hurt me if I betray you?
Marnie: No. Ash's Pokemon will simply tear you apart, torture you, then kill you with no hesitation and loss no sleep over your death.
Korrina: That is..noted.
Marnie: Good. Ash trusts you, so I trust you. Do not break his trust. You wish to be with him? Then don't do something stupid. That is my advice.
Korrina: We both want to be with him, why are you giving me advice?
Marnie: You have much to improve on if you wish to date him. I'd like it to be fair.
Korrina: Uh-
Marnie: Let me say it this way. As of now, you are nowhere near the running. You are not worthy, prepared, nor does he know you well like with me and Gloria. You're at a disadvantage. I have accepted the fact that more people will be attracted to him, so I will simply make him pick me.
Unluckily for them, Bonnie and Gloria heard the whole thing. Bonnie had her signature evil smirk, while Gloria was a tomato. Ash was still teaching Freeze how to use overheat properly without having the negative effect.
