And here comes the prize.....

Eirlys was too stunned to speak when her Mom handed her the contract. 

Nung nagtapos siya ng secondary school her parents wanted her to take Business course kasi gusto ng family niya na siya mag take over ng business nila but she insisted on pursuing her dream course. So she made a deal with her Mom, after 10 years she will do anything her mother says.

Tila ba kay bilis ng panahon. She thought her mother would forget their deal pero mali pala siya. Iniisip niya noon na 10 years are too long para maalala nito ang deal nila.

Nakangiti ito sa kanya saka binigyan siya ng isang invitation letter. 

"What's this?" agad na tanong niya habang nakakunot ang noo.

"Open it for you to see."

Lalong kumunot ang noo niya habang binubuksan ito saka bumungad sa kanya ang pangalang Eirlys  kaya nanlaki ang mata niyang tumingin sa ina. "What's this all about?"

An invitation card for an engagement party.

"You promised to do whatever we want after 10 years and now it's payback time."

"But Ma? Engagement?" di makapaniwalang tanong niya at nakapangalumbabang tumingin sa kanyang mga magulang.

"We made a deal Nephelle Eirlys." may pagbabanta sa boses ng ina kaya siya bumuntong hininga.

"Fine, do whatever you want." tanging naiwika nalang niya saka tumayo.

"Where are you going?" agad na tanong ng ina saka siya lumingon rito. 

Tahimik pa rin ang ama na nakaupo katabi ang ina niya. He was in deep thought she knew it.

Her Dad always spoils her with everything and knowing that would happen. He probably don't agree, but if he does, there must be something going on.

"I need to think. I-I can't stay here anymore. It's suffocating..."

Pagkatapos niyang sabihin iyon ay agad siyang lumabas saka dumiretso sa sasakyan niya at agad iyon pinaandar. She called Sam to meet her at their meeting place half an hour later.

It was past 8 in the evening when she and Sam reunited inside a bar. 

"So what's with the sudden night out? You know we had work tomorrow Neph." tanong nito habang nasa counter sila.

"I'm getting married." wika niya saka tinungga ang isang basong red wine.

Sam was shocked that she can't hold the wine glass properly. "W-What do you m-mean? Tell me the story.." wika nito saka tinawag ang bartender for another set of the wine they're drinking.

"Mom did it. I promised to her before that I would do everything she asks as long as she'll let me do what I want and that is to study Medicine. And just today, she had the engagement party invitation already and fuck about it. It's next week."

Di makapagsalita si Sam sa narinig saka nakangangang tumingin kay Eirlys. Umiling ito saka tinapik siya sa balikat.

"I know your Mom very well, but what's with the engagement? Is it like a family friend guy or business thing? Because I know that is mostly the reason for engagements." litong tanong nito.

"I didn't ask her but she's determined about it. My mother would do everything especially with that engagement,  Her reaction earlier says it all.I can't run from it." napatigil siya saka uminom. ".....or should I run?" sarkastikong tanong niya saka mapaklang tumawa.

Umiling si Sam saka tinawanan ito.  They stayed for a couple of hours before they decided to leave. The next morning she was again back to her work.

"Doc Eirlys someone wants to see you."wika ng nurse ng sumilip ito sa pintuan niya saka siya sumenyas na papasukin ito.
