It was a late evening in Seattle, the city skyline glowing in the distance as raindrops streamed down the large floor-to-ceiling windows of the Shepherd-Grey household. Inside, the atmosphere was warm and intimate. The kids were already asleep, their soft snores echoing faintly from their bedrooms, leaving Derek and Meredith alone in the quiet of the night. The house was dimly lit, the only light coming from the fireplace, casting flickering shadows across the room. Derek had just returned from a long day at the hospital, the weight of the day still lingering in his shoulders. But as he entered the living room, he found Meredith standing by the window, staring out at the rain-soaked city.
She was wearing one of his old shirts, the fabric draping loosely over her frame, her hair falling in soft waves down her back. There was something about the way she looked standing there—ethereal, almost, bathed in the soft glow of the city lights. The sight of her sent a familiar warmth coursing through him, a reminder of the undeniable connection they shared.
Derek approached her quietly, his footsteps barely making a sound on the wooden floor. He wrapped his arms around her from behind, pulling her close, and she leaned back into him, sighing contentedly.
"Long day?" she asked, her voice soft and soothing.
"You have no idea," he murmured into her hair, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. "But coming home to this... to you... makes it all worth it."
Meredith smiled, turning her head slightly to meet his eyes. "You always say the right things."
Derek chuckled, his breath warm against her neck. "That's because it's true."
They stood there for a moment, just holding each other, the rain creating a steady rhythm against the window. There was a comfort in the silence, in the way their bodies fit together so perfectly. But as the seconds ticked by, something shifted in the air between them—a familiar tension, an undeniable pull that had always existed between them.
Derek's hands began to roam, sliding down her sides, feeling the curve of her waist through the thin fabric of his shirt. Meredith's breath hitched slightly, her eyes fluttering closed as she leaned further into his touch. His hands were warm, his touch gentle but firm, sending a shiver down her spine.
"Derek..." she whispered, her voice laced with both desire and need.
He didn't respond with words; instead, he tilted her head to the side and pressed his lips to the sensitive spot just below her ear. Meredith gasped, her hands gripping the edge of the window for support. The cool glass contrasted with the heat building between them, making the sensation all the more intense.
Derek continued to kiss his way down her neck, his hands slipping under the hem of the shirt, fingers skimming across her bare skin. He could feel her heartbeat quickening, could hear the soft, breathless sounds she made as he explored her body. Every touch, every kiss, only heightened the tension between them, the desire that had been simmering all day finally coming to a boil.
Meredith turned in his arms, her eyes dark with want as she looked up at him. The rain outside had picked up, the sound of it tapping against the window creating a backdrop to the electric moment they were sharing. She grabbed the collar of his shirt, pulling him down to meet her lips in a fierce, passionate kiss.
Derek responded immediately, his hands tangling in her hair as he deepened the kiss. The heat between them was palpable, the need for each other consuming them both. They moved together as if driven by instinct, Meredith pushing him back against the window, her body pressed tightly against his.
Derek's hands roamed over her back, slipping under the shirt to feel the warmth of her skin. He loved the way she felt against him, the way she responded to his touch, the way they fit together so perfectly. The window behind him was cool and damp from the rain, a stark contrast to the heat radiating from their bodies.
Without breaking the kiss, Derek lifted her slightly, and Meredith wrapped her legs around his waist, allowing him to press her against the window. The city lights illuminated her face, casting a soft glow over her features, making her look even more breathtaking. He took a moment to just look at her, to take in the beauty of the woman he loved so deeply.
"God, you're beautiful," he breathed, his voice rough with desire.
Meredith smiled, her hands cupping his face as she pulled him back down to kiss her. "Show me," she whispered against his lips, her voice a mix of challenge and need.
Derek didn't need any further encouragement. He kissed her with renewed fervor, his hands gripping her hips as he moved against her. The cool glass of the window against her back only heightened the sensation, making every touch, every kiss, all the more intense.
Their movements were driven by pure, unadulterated desire, each touch igniting the fire between them. The rain outside created a steady rhythm that matched the beat of their hearts, the world outside forgotten as they lost themselves in each other.
Meredith gasped as Derek's hands found their way under the shirt she was wearing, his touch sending waves of pleasure through her. She arched against him, her hands gripping his shoulders for support as he continued to explore her body, his kisses trailing down her neck and across her collarbone.
Derek was relentless, his movements fueled by the intense need he felt for her. He loved the way she responded to him, the way she whispered his name with every touch, every kiss. It was moments like these that reminded him just how deep their connection was, how much he loved her.
As they moved together, the world outside the window blurred into a wash of rain and city lights. All that mattered was the two of them, the way they fit together, the way they could lose themselves in each other so completely.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, they both reached the peak of their desire, their bodies trembling against each other as they found their release. Meredith cried out, her voice muffled against Derek's shoulder as he held her close, his own breath coming in ragged gasps.
They stayed like that for a moment, just holding each other, their hearts pounding in sync as they came down from the high. The rain continued to fall outside, the city lights twinkling in the distance, but inside, the only sound was their breathing, slow and steady as they basked in the afterglow of their passion.
Derek finally pulled back slightly, looking down at Meredith with a tender smile. "You're amazing," he whispered, brushing a stray lock of hair from her face.
Meredith smiled back, her eyes soft and full of love. "So are you."
They shared a gentle kiss, a contrast to the intensity of their previous moments, but no less meaningful. It was a kiss that spoke of love, of connection, of the bond they shared that went beyond words.
As they pulled away, Meredith let out a contented sigh, resting her head against Derek's chest. "We should do this more often," she murmured.
Derek chuckled, his arms wrapping around her in a protective embrace. "Absolutely. But for now, I think we should get some sleep. We still have to be parents in the morning."
Meredith laughed softly, nodding in agreement. "Yeah, we do."
They slowly untangled themselves from each other, Derek setting Meredith back on her feet as they reluctantly moved away from the window. The rain continued to fall outside, the city lights twinkling in the distance, but inside, the warmth between them lingered, a reminder of the passion they had shared.
As they climbed into bed, still wrapped in the afterglow of their moment, they knew that no matter how chaotic life became, they would always find their way back to each other. Because in the end, it was moments like these that kept their love alive, that reminded them of the deep connection they shared, a connection that could never be broken.
