Adrika had been pacing around in the living hall for a while now, her heart pounding as she rehearsed what she wanted to say.She had found out just that noon she was pregnant.
But now came the hard part—telling Abeer.
What if he wasn’t ready?
What if his reaction wasn’t what she hoped for? The thought sent shivers down her spine. Finally, gathering all her courage, she walked upstairs.
The soft creak of the door announced her arrival as she stepped into their bedroom.
Abeer was lounging on the bed, scrolling through his phone, seemingly relaxed after a long day. Seeing him so calm made her even more nervous.
Taking a deep breath, she crossed the room and sat down beside him on the bed.
She leaned into him, resting her face on his chest and playing with the buttons of his shirt. Her fingers trembled slightly.
"Abeer, listen," she whispered, her voice shaky.
He hummed, his eyes still on his phone, though his hand automatically moved to rest on her back, a gesture of comfort that was second nature to him.
"Hmm, kya baat hai, sweetheart?"
Adrika swallowed hard, her heart racing.
She could feel his steady heartbeat under her cheek, but her own was erratic.
"Abeer, wo... mujhe tumse kuch zaroori baat karni hai," she began, her fingers still playing with his buttons.
He glanced down at her, sensing the tension in her voice.
"Kya hua, Adrika? Tum theek ho?" His tone was soft, but there was concern laced in it now.
He set his phone aside, his full attention on her.
She nodded but couldn’t look him in the eye. "Haan, main... main theek hoon. Bas thoda darr lag raha hai."
Abeer sat up slightly, gently lifting her chin so she had to meet his gaze.
"Darr? Mujhse? Adrika, tumhe mujhse kabhi darne ki zaroorat nahi hai. Tum jaanti ho na?"
Adrika felt her eyes sting with tears, but she blinked them away quickly.
"Main jaanti hoon... lekin ye baat hai hi aisi."
She took a deep breath and finally blurted it out, "I'm...... pregnant..."
For a moment, there was silence. Abeer's eyes widened in surprise, and Adrika's heart sank, expecting the worst.
She held her breath, waiting for his reaction.
Suddenly, Abeer’s face broke into the widest grin she had ever seen.
His eyes sparkled with pure joy, and without a word, he pulled her into a tight hug, almost lifting her off the bed.
