AUTHOR POV

Adrika got ready for the office and walked out of the main gate. Just as she reached the driveway, she noticed Abeer entering the mansion.

His hair was messy, falling over his forehead, but even in this disheveled state, he looked effortlessly handsome.

Adrika hesitated for a moment, contemplating whether to stop him. But then, as if recalling something, she quickly dismissed the thought and headed straight to her car, avoiding any eye contact.

Meanwhile, Abeer walked into his room, feeling the weight of the day already pressing down on him. He stepped into the bathroom and turned on the cold shower, letting the water wash over him.

As he stood under the stream, his mind drifted back to the day his parents pressured him into getting married.

A smirk played on his lips as he remembered how, in defiance, he had made his decision. Adrika was working as his P.A. at the time, and he had chosen her for reasons that were his alone.

Flashback

One Week Before the Wedding

Adrika was in Abeer's cabin, meticulously arranging files as part of her daily routine. Suddenly, the door opened, and Abeer walked in holding a document.

He placed it on the desk in front of her and said in his usual commanding tone, "Listen to me, Ms. Mahajan. You have to marry me."

Adrika froze, her hands halting mid-motion. Shocked, she turned to face him. "Why should I marry you, Sir?" she asked, emphasizing the last word defiantly.

Abeer smirked, his expression unreadable.

"I know, Ms. Mahajan, that you live in your family house. But your cousin wants that house for himself, doesn't he? And I'm guessing you don’t want to lose it. Well," he continued, sliding the document toward her, "these are the property papers. If you marry me, I’ll transfer the house to your name."

Adrika’s eyes widened in disbelief. Her grip on the file tightened as her mind raced. Without another word, she turned to leave, desperate for space to process what she had just heard.

But Abeer's voice stopped her mid-step. "You have 15 minutes. I want my answer."

Adrika nodded faintly and walked out, her thoughts in turmoil.

Exactly 15 minutes later, she returned to his cabin. Her voice barely above a whisper, she said, "Yes."

The wedding happened quickly, binding two individuals with starkly different expectations.

Adrika had always dreamed of marrying someone who would shower her with love and respect, someone who would cherish her. But fate had other plans.

Yet, as she resigned herself to this new reality, she repeated the same words in her mind:

"As no one can change their fate, I’ll just have to try and move forward."

Flashback ends

After her bath, Abeer stepped out of the washroom, dressed in his usual business attire, and quickly headed to the office.
