It was starting to become a routine; crying. I had cried myself to sleep that night after my wedding and then I cried all the way to the airport, throughout the entire flight and then again as I stood outside an unknown building.
It was my husband's house and I was standing outside of it, by myself.
He had finally left me alone. And though I was glad for that, I was too much of an emotional wreck to be happy. It seemed to be inevitable that I compared every little detail of Nathan Hamilton to the man I had imagine to be my husband. With a deep sigh, I pushed open the glass doors leading into the lobby of the upscale building. On a regular day, I would have been awed by the high ceiling and sparkling chandelier but I was just too upset to even admire it for a second. To be honest, I was expecting Hamilton's home to be huge, with multiple servants running around doing things for him all day instead of this high end apartment. The bell boy who had been emptying the car of all of Hamilton's luggage -nothing of mine, since I wasn't allowed to bring anything with me besides the clothes on my back and the contents of my purse- ushered me towards the elevator.
I was shown out and led to the door of the place that was going to be my home for the next few months. The bell boy unlocked the door and handed me the keys. Through my puffy eyes, I looked around, taking in the interior of the place. It was huge, that went beyond saying. The living room was on my left, leading off into a kitchen and an attached dining room. On my right was a corridor which led to the Master bedroom -I was sure it was Hamilton's, since there were so many of what looked like his clothes lying around the room- the guestroom and a study.
I entered the guestroom and shut the door silently behind me. Placing my handbag on the table in the corner of the room, I removed my jacket and my shoes and then climbed onto the bed. I curled up on the corner and let sleep overcome me. Reality really was just too much for me to handle.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was almost not surprised when I woke up to the sound of a door being slammed. I sprung up, shocked, and found myself once again looking into the furious eyes of Nathan Hamilton. I was beginning to think that all the slamming and banging things was normal for him and I was going to have to get used to that.
"Why are you sleeping in here?" His eyes were icy and he was breathing heavily.
It seemed like he had been running around frantically, which struck me as odd because he was always calm and collected when he wasn't yelling at me. His appearance was disheveled, shirt untucked from his pants with his tie loose around his neck and his sleeves folded up to his elbows. As much as I hated him, I had to admit that he looked delicious.
