Chapter 17 - Truce's Rulebook
“How dare you disappear like that Rose! I did not expect this sort of careless and reckless behavior from you. We trusted you! Do you have any idea worried your mother and I were? We thought you were kidnapped and ….”
“James, Darling please calm down, she is here now isn’t she?”
“But Honey…”
“No James, the important thing is she is here now, and she is safe. This is the time to welcome our son-in-law”
“Welcome? Welcome my ass”
The next moment a square punch landed on Hamiton’s jaw, sending him stumbling back.

“Rosaline you have to tell me, what happened last night? How did you get hurt? Did you really fall into a bloody mirror?”
Hamilton’s words echoed in my head. He really had no clue what he had done the last night. Where does that leave me and my emotions?
Let me guess, nowhere. If my life for so bent on making no sense, I would have to congratulate it, because it was doing a damn good job at that.
For a moment there, I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs, tell him who that monster was. The same monster I had stepped towards to console, who shoved me back into a mirror. I wanted to let it all out, so I could move past everything that happened and just hug him. I was so glad he found me. There in the forest, alone and battered with wounds, I could not have survived alone.
But then, the words that left my lips betrayed my thoughts, “Yes”
One simple yes, and he would never know about it. Never know about what a monster he becomes when he is drunk. Never know that he can actually physically hurt me.
Actually I always knew he could, break me into half if he wished to, but I never thought he would.
But what is the point of telling him Rose? He would just hate himself more. And you have already done a fine job of hurting him yesterday.
Yes I had. I had compared him to his father. The father same father who changed this gorgeous male into a monster. The same father who broke his sons arm after beating his wife. No, Hamilton was not his father. He was the guy who saved my life. He was the guy who couldn’t stand my tears. Finally I saw some clarity in my thoughts. Finally I knew what to feel.
But there was another thing I knew now.
I have to stay away from him.
