(Hayes POV)
After our heated exchange, I decided to give my darling some space to cool off from her fuming anger. I made my way down to the main living room, where I found Y/N's mom chatting with Maria.
"Boy, can that woman drink," my father joked, though my sour expression gave away my pissed off mood.
She ruined everything, I fumed inwardly.
How dare she interfere with my plans for Y/N?
That meddling bitch needs to go.
"She ruined the surprise," I said flatly, watching his face fall.
"Oh, well then I guess plan B is a must," he replied, undeterred.
I shook my head vehemently.
"No, not that either. Whisking her off to some resort won't work." I can't risk her getting away from me, not even for a second. "I'll bring her friends around first, ease her into it gradually."
Her friends will see how perfect we are together.
They'll convince her I'm the only one she needs.
He considered this for a moment.
"What about her mom, though?"
"Drop the bitch on the side of the road with fifty dollars, I don't care." My voice was cold, merciless.
That woman needs to be gone for good if I'm going to control Y/N completely. She's poisoning my love's mind against me.
I watched as my father did as I instructed and walked away to deal with the mother situation. Inwardly, I cursed myself - she had ruined the surprise I had planned to isolate Y/N. But I knew how to save it. My delusions convinced me that isolating her was the only way to keep her as mine forever.
Once that harpy is gone, Y/N will realize I'm all she needs.
She'll be so grateful to have me.
I simply had to get rid of her mother, get her friends around to witness our "perfect" relationship, and then hide my true controlling behavior from her. With a determined nod, I headed to our bedroom, my mind already spinning on how to manipulate the situation to my advantage.
Peering into the closet, I saw her pacing anxiously in one of my small t-shirts. Even stressed, she looked absolutely wonderful - her (H/T) flowed perfectly with her face, and though her (E/C) eyes were a little puffy, it only enhanced her pretty features in my warped, obsessive mind.
So beautiful, so vulnerable.
She needs me to protect her, to guide her.
"I'll get her," I muttered to myself. "She loves me, she just can't show it because of her mother's poisonous influence."
My delusional thoughts convinced me she truly loved me despite all evidence to the contrary. I refused to believe anything else - she had to love me, because I owned her. No one else could ever understand her like I do.
Steeling my resolve, I walked back out to comfort her with my twisted agenda. Time to reel her back in.
"Darling?" My voice was gentle as I gazed into her eyes, but my mind whirred - I have to convince her I'm the only one she needs. She'll see, once her mother is gone.
"Please tell me she's gone," she muttered, and I pulled her into a reassuring hug, delighting in how she clung to me.
That's it, my love.
Let me take care of you.
"She needs me," I told myself. "She needs me so much, more than anyone else. I'm all she has now."
I forced myself not to smile as I felt her hug me back - in my deluded, possessive mind, it was confirmation that she did indeed love me, despite her mother's interference trying to open her eyes.
But I'll never let her see the truth.
She's mine.
"She's far, far away from here," I soothed with a lie. "I made my father take her back and gave her something so she won't ever come back here."
Ever again to ruin my control over you, my darling.
"You promise?" She looked up at me with pleading eyes that I misinterpreted as longing for me alone.
"Yes, my dear." I stroked her hair soothingly, fantasies of her complete dependence on me dancing in my head. "What about what she was saying?"
"Complete nonsense," I assured her. "You're just stressed from her vile words."
Just let me take care of you, darling.
I'll never let you go, not ever.
