Mystique had silently dispatched the original boat driver, seamlessly morphing into his form to avoid raising any suspicionOn the shore, Sabertooth and Toad dealt with the remaining guards, ensuring a smoother entry for the group. Rogue, meanwhile, was bound to a pole on the boat, her movements restricted
Magneto and Mystique walked into the confined space where Rogue was held. "Magnificent, isn't she?" Magneto remarked, his gaze lifting to the towering statue of Lady Liberty
"I've seen it," Rogue replied flatly
Magneto continued, a note of nostalgia in his voice, "I first laid eyes on her in 1949. America was supposed to be the land of tolerance...of peace." He looked down at her, his expression darkening
"Are you going to kill me?" Rogue asked, though the answer already seemed inevitable
"Yes," Magneto confirmed without hesitation
"Why?" Rogue pressed, her voice edged with desperation
He stepped closer, his tone growing colder. "Because there is no land of tolerance. There is no peace. Not here, nor anywhere else. Women, children, entire families destroyed simply for being born different from those in power."
He crouched beside her, his voice softening but losing none of its conviction. "But after tonight, the world's most powerful will be just like us. They'll return home as brothers. As mutants. Your sacrifice will ensure our survival."
As he spoke, Rogue heard the familiar, menacing growl she swore she have heard before behind her. Sabertooth had appeared, his presence a looming threat
"I'll understand if that comes as small consolation" Magneto added, standing up with a deliberate calm. "Put her in the machine" he then walked outside "I'll raise it." he said as he looked at the statue of Liberty
At Mutant high aka X-Mansion
In the X-Men's underground base, Jean, Scott, Oror, Logan and you, gathered around a sleek, futuristic table. The room was tense, a reflection of the dire situation unfolding outside their safe haven
Scott leaned forward, his voice steady "Magneto is here. Liberty Island," he said as the table's holographic display shifted, rapidly constructing a three-dimensional model of Liberty Island in precise detail, the iconic Statue of Liberty towering above the virtual terrain
"Now, presumably, his objective is to mutate the world leaders," Scott continued, his eyes narrowing as the scenario unfolded before them. The table zoomed in further, the image shifting from Liberty Island to Ellis Island, where the upcoming U.N. Summit was to take place
Logan, standing beside you, listened intently, his face set in concentration. "At the U.N. Summit on Ellis Island," Scott clarified as the holographic model shifted once more, projecting the shape of Ellis Island
Storm, interjected, her voice calm but filled with concern. "He doesn't know his machine kills," she said gravely
"And judging from what the Professor saw, if Magneto gave Rogue enough power-" She paused for a moment and Jean finished her sentence "He could wipe out everyone in New York City."
At that, the hologram zoomed out, the model of New York City slowly assembling itself, each towering building and sprawling street mapped out in glowing lines of light
"Alright we can insert here at the George Washington Bridge," The map zoomed in on the bridge, highlighting the chosen insertion point. "Come around the bank just off of manhattan. We land on the far side of Liberty Island, here." His finger moved to a spot on the virtual terrain, showing the team's intended landing site, just out of range from any obvious patrols
"What about harbor patrol?" Logan asked, his voice low and gruff. His eyes flicked to the map, then back to Scott
"What about radars? If they pick you guys up, Your dead in the water before yall even get close." You chimed inScott lifted his head and met Logan's and yours stare with confidence. "If they have anything that can pick up our jet, they deserve to catch us" he replied coolly
On the jet
Scott sat in the cockpit, his hands moving swiftly across the controls. With a flick of his wrist, he pushed two red buttons, powering up the X-Jet. The hum of the engines quickly filled the cabin, and the jet roared to life
Logan sat in the back behind Oror and next Jean. He was still fiddling with his uniform, clearly uncomfortable. As he zipped it up, his fingers tugged at the collar, trying to loosen the tight fabric around his neck. He lifted his arms to adjust the fit, only to hear the unmistakable sound of fabric tearing under his armpits
"You actually go outside in these things?" Logan said
Scott, eyes forward as he prepped the jet for takeoff "What would you prefer, yellow spandex?" He replied
Jean tried to stifle a laugh beside Logan as the jet's systems powered up fully. With a smooth motion, Scott engaged the lift-off sequence. The X-Jet's wheels lifted from the ground, and a low rumble filled the aircraft. Outside, the students could hear the jet's engines, its unmistakable roar signaling departure
A few students and staff ran to the windows, catching a glimpse of the sleek, black aircraft as it began to rise from the hidden hangar. With a powerful thrust, the X-Jet took off into the night sky
