The soft glow of the early morning sun filtered through the windows, casting warm light across the spacious living room. Nunew sat on the plush sofa, absentmindedly flipping through a book, but his mind wandered. The house was unusually quiet for a Saturday, something that only meant one thing: his brothers were up to something.
“Kirin!” Nunew called, his voice carrying through the house.
His twin brother, Kirin, appeared in the doorway moments later, a mischievous grin on his face. “What’s up, Nhu? Trying to figure out what Nat and Yim are planning?”
Nunew sighed, setting his book aside. “Of course. They’ve been too quiet all morning, which means we’re either about to get pranked or they’re plotting something.”
Kirin chuckled as he sat down beside his twin. “You know them too well. Maybe they’re just being good for once?”
Nunew raised an eyebrow. “You really believe that?”
Before Kirin could answer, the sound of muffled giggles came from the hallway. Nunew and Kirin exchanged a look, then stood up in unison. They followed the laughter to the kitchen, where they found their younger brothers, Nat and Yim, huddled together with what could only be described as a suspiciously large amount of flour and sugar.
“Baking?” Kirin asked, crossing his arms with a smirk. “Or plotting our demise?”
Nat, the second youngest, grinned sheepishly. “A bit of both.”
Yim, the youngest of the four brothers, looked up at them with wide, innocent eyes. “We were just making breakfast,” he said, holding up a bowl of pancake batter as if that would explain everything.
Nunew laughed softly, shaking his head. “Why do I feel like there’s more to this than just pancakes?”
Nat shot a look at Yim, who quickly turned back to stirring the batter. “Okay, maybe we had a small plan to surprise you two, but it’s harmless! Promise.”
Kirin snorted. “If by ‘harmless’ you mean a flour explosion waiting to happen, then sure.”
Nunew reached out to ruffle Yim’s hair, earning a protest from the youngest. “Well, whatever you’re up to, just try not to make a mess, okay?”
“We’ll behave,” Yim said with a grin, but the gleam in his eyes told Nunew they weren’t off the hook just yet.
As Nunew turned back to Kirin, a familiar warmth spread through his chest. This was their life—four brothers bound by the same fate, yet so different in their own ways. Despite the chaos, there was comfort in their bond, a connection that went beyond mere siblinghood.
“Do you ever think about what’s going to happen when we meet our alphas?” Nunew asked quietly, his voice barely above a whisper.
Kirin’s expression softened as he looked at his twin. “All the time. I wonder who they’ll be, what they’ll be like. I’m not scared, though. Are you?”
Nunew shook his head, though deep down, he wasn’t so sure. “No, I guess not. I just wonder what it will feel like… to belong to someone that way.”
Kirin smiled. “I don’t think we’ll ever really be prepared for it, but whatever happens, we’ve got each other.”
Nunew nodded, reassured by his brother’s words. No matter what their future held, the bond between them would never change. They were four omega brothers, each destined to find their alpha, but their connection to one another would remain unbreakable.
Just as they were about to leave the kitchen, Yim’s voice rang out. “Oh, and by the way, the pancakes might be heart-shaped. You know, for practice.”
“Practice for what?” Nunew asked, turning back with a teasing smile.
Yim gave a sly grin. “You know, for when you fall in love.”
Nunew rolled his eyes but couldn’t help the small smile that tugged at his lips. As much as he teased Yim, the thought of meeting his alpha one day was never far from his mind. Little did he know, the moment he was waiting for was much closer than he thought.
