As the evening crept in, Nunew, still feverish and weak, stirred restlessly under the blanket. Despite the medicine Zee had given him, his body ached, and chills continued to course through him. But there was one thing that always soothed him, no matter what—Zee’s heartbeat.

“Hia…” Nunew murmured softly, his voice a little stronger than earlier but still tired. “Can I… can I lay on your chest? I want to hear your heartbeat.”

Zee, who had been watching over him attentively, immediately nodded. “Of course, Nhu. Whatever you need.”

Carefully, Zee adjusted their positions on the couch so that Nunew could rest his head on Zee’s chest. Nunew snuggled in close, his ear pressed against his alpha’s chest, listening to the steady, rhythmic beating of Zee’s heart. The sound brought him a sense of calm that no medicine could replicate. His fever still lingered, but with Zee’s strong arms wrapped around him, Nunew felt safe and protected.

“I can hear it,” Nunew whispered, his eyes fluttering shut as the soothing sound washed over him. “Your heartbeat… it’s calming.”

Zee smiled softly, his hand gently rubbing circles on Nunew’s back as he held him close. “Good, just focus on that. I’m not going anywhere.”

Even though he was sick, Nunew couldn’t help but crave the comfort of his alpha’s embrace. He may have been feeling under the weather, but that didn’t stop his need for cuddles. Being wrapped in Zee’s arms made everything feel a little more bearable.

“I love being here with you,” Nunew mumbled, his voice heavy with fatigue but filled with contentment. “Even when I’m sick, I just want to be close to you.”

Zee kissed the top of Nunew’s head, his heart swelling with affection. “I’ll always be here, Nhu. Sick or healthy, I’ve got you.”

Nunew smiled weakly against Zee’s chest, his body relaxing as he drifted into a light doze, soothed by the steady rhythm of Zee’s heartbeat. Even though his fever still lingered and his body ached, being wrapped in his alpha’s warmth made everything seem just a little easier to handle.

For the rest of the night, Zee held Nunew close, making sure his omega stayed comfortable and felt cared for. He knew that, soon enough, Nunew’s fever would break, and he’d be back to his usual self. But for now, Zee was content to give him all the cuddles he needed, knowing that his presence was the best comfort Nunew could ask for.
