Annie's POV

I woke up that morning confused, after all that had happened in the previous day's events. I had still yet to process all the information we had been given. I just lay there on the mattress, thinking about what today's events would bring. I knew that Alice, Kennedy, whatever, and Onix, were planning on leaving to the Centre State. I had to figure out a way to persuade her to take me with her, I sure as hell wasn't going to let her leave me behind. I listened out for Kennedy's breathing as I lay there, but heard nothing. I turned over onto my side and looked over onto her bed. In the darkness, I could see that her sheets were rumpled, but there was no Kennedy there. Maybe she was hiding somewhere.

I got out of my own bed and stretched for a couple of seconds before walking out of the room and into the main living area. Most of the guys were already up and were sitting around the table either eating or playing cards. The only people who were missing were Kennedy, Onix and Finch. Sade, who was sitting on the side of the table facing me, noticed I was standing in the doorway to the rooms and waved me over. I blushed as he smiled at me and motioned for me to sit next to him. I walked over to the table and sat down next to him, still blushing.

I had thought that I would end up liking Onix more than anyone, I had already begun to like him and was completely jealous when he was constantly hanging out and talking to Kennedy. But then I started spending time with Sade whilst Onix and Kennedy were essentially 'canoodling'. He was so cute, always embarrassed when I was complementing him or his cooking, he always seemed surprised that I actually liked it, which was ridiculous because he was such a talented cook. He was also really funny, making jokes about anything and everything, he was always able to make me laugh, no matter what I was feeling. Not to mention was good-looking. His dark wavy hair nearly fell into his chocolate eyes and he was a good one and a bit heads taller than me. To say I quite liked him was kind of an understatement, I just found him so lovely and completely adorable.

"Have you seen Ali- uh, Kennedy this morning? Or Onix for that matter?" I asked him.

"No, sorry, I haven't seen them since yesterday evening. Though I wouldn't be surprised if they left already, knowing Onix, he would've wanted to make an early head start." He shrugged.

"No, they can't have left, she promised me she would never leave me. They can't have gone already!" I shot up from the chair and ran back down the hall, looking in each and every room, tears began to stream down my cheeks and I collapsed to the floor in a heap as I looked through the last door.

"No, no, no she can't have gone, not without a goodbye. No!" I cried out, as I felt someone come up behind me and bent down to my level, enveloping me in a hug. I knew who it was instantly.

"Annie, it's ok, you knew they were going to be leaving, and they will be back once they have found the answers that Kennedy needs. Then you can both stay here for as long as you want. You know she just needs closure." Sade reassured, his hands rubbing circles on my back, as he pulled me closer into his embrace.

"I know they were planning on leaving, but not so soon. I was going to try and persuade her to let me go with her! I'm not sure what I could do without her, she was my first real friend, she promised she wouldn't leave me,"

"It's ok, she will be back after-"

"No! You don't understand, I can't wait here for the next however long just waiting for her to show up again. I wouldn't be able to cope with all the what if's clogging up my brain. I am going, whether anyone else likes it or not, I am going to find her and stay with her, I have to know she's safe and I can only do that when I can see her." I walk back down the hall to Kennedy's and my room, grabbing all the clothes I had and stuffing them into a bag that had been left in the room before we had moved into it. I felt Sade place his hand on my shoulder, then forcefully turned me to face him.

"Annie, what are you doing? You can't just leave and try and hunt them down, it's too dangerous and you have no idea which way they went! Think this through a minute, is this a safe option? Haven't you thought about why Kennedy and Onix left without saying goodbye, that maybe they knew you would try to go with you and maybe they wanted to keep you away from the danger they might be facing? It's better for you if you stay."

"But I'm not going to if it's dangerous, that means she is just in the danger that I could have been in, what's to say that she won't get hurt or captured and taken back to the prison, but I would? I'm going, you can't stop me, you can either get put of my way or come with me."

"How would you know where to go? How would you get food? I know you wouldn't be able to hunt like Kennedy or one of us guys can, you're too kind to be violent."

"Well, if you don't come with me, I guess I will just have to do a Kennedy and wing it." I state, frowning.

"So it looks like I'm coming with you, I can't just let you going knowing you don't have a plan and any way to sustain yourself. I will accompany you on your quest to find Onix and Kennedy, then we will come back here after we've found them to make sure they are safe."

I had absolutely no intention of coming back to the cave after finding Onix and Kennedy, I fully intended to stay with them throughout the whole journey to and from the Centre State, but if Sade didn't take me to them because I told him I wouldn't come back after we had found them I would never forgive myself, so I just nodded and said nothing.

As soon as we were both ready, with bags packed, bottles filled, food supply stocked up, we told the other guys of our departure, then walked out into the sun, to join Kennedy.
