Kennedy's POV
"So, how about those traps, eh?" They began to walk of through the woods, away from me.
Huh, well that was insightful. Don't tell them, but I had followed Onix and Sterling so I could see what they were up to, and let me tell you, I certainly enjoyed listening to that. Onix admitted he liked me! To my Uncle... Ew. I was so excited, I ran back to camp, shook Annie awake and screamed in her ear.
"Ah! Oh, it's you, stop screaming!" Annie shouted at me, rubbing her eyes, once she had bolted upright.
"Ah!" I screamed in her eye again.
"What?!"
I got up off the floor and pulled Annie up along with me, we are going for a walk, right now." I said, realising I had woken Sade up with my screaming, oops. "Don't worry Sade, Onix and Sterling went hunting, they will be back soon. See ya!" I shouted over my shoulder as I dragged Annie away. I headed towards a lake that we had camped near. Around the edges of the crystal pool where expansive cliff faces, with sheer drops on every side, apart from the one where we emerged from the trees. It was like a giant bole. I pebbled banks felt uncomfortable under my bare feet, so I ran into the water, with Annie trailing along behind me. We slashed down into the icy depths; then reemerged, breathing deeply.
"So, what had you screaming in my ear this morning, hm?" Annie raised her eyebrow at me.
"Oh, nothing, I was just, you know, spying on Onix and Sterling and eavesdropping on their conversation and found out something really interesting and I couldn't wait to tell you!" I squealed out in one breath.
"Well, are you going to tell me what they talked about!?" She shouted at me, as we paddled above the water, trying to keep the icy chill from our bones.
"Oh, you know, Sterling being a great Uncle and treating Onix that if he ever hurts me, he will break Onix's arms and legs, as well as pull out all his teeth, that sort of stuff..." I said casually, but drifted off at the end, leaving her hanging.
"And...?"
"And I over heard Onix saying something of great value to me," I continued, still avoiding the answer, purposefully.
"Will you just tell me?" She shouted at me, kicking me in the leg, under the water.
"OnixtoldSterlinghelikedme!" I word vomited out, leaving Annie floating there stunned.
"What was that? can you repeat what you just said?"
"I said, Onix told my Uncle that he liked me." I said word by word. There was silence for a minute, the only thing I could here were the waves that were lapping against us and the shore.
"AH! I KNEW IT!" She screamed, splashing her hands against the surface of the water.
"Calm down!" I shouted at her, dunking her under the water and giggling. When Annie resurfaced, she kicked me in the leg again.
"Hey! That was super rude!"
"Haha! You love me!"
"Yeah, and I have no idea why!"
We swam back to shore, slowly, talking about nothing in particular. As we left the water, Onix, Sterling and Sade emerged from the tree line, talking amongst themselves.
"What's up, guys?" Annie asked, wrapping a towel around herself, as I grabbed my own.
"Not much, we just finished setting up the last of the traps. We should leave here in an hour or so." Onix said, flicking Annie on the nose. I laughed as she punched him as hard as she could, making him flinch.
