What on earth was Finch doing here? With the Governor of all people! They stood in the middle of the room with the desks of people on either side of them. They had their heads together and were talking quietly with guards right behind them, standing to attention.
The walls were covered in shelf after shelf of scrolls, right up to the ceiling, where a chandelier hung, casting glitters of light across the entire room.
"Ah, so good of you to join us, Kennedy. We've been waiting." The Governor said, with his arms wide, as if to welcome us. I looked at Finch, confused, still wondering why the hell he was here.
"I can see your confusion Kennedy, so I'll explain. When I saw the posters around the woods, I knew I couldn't pass up areward that big, especially when we were living in a flipping cave in a cliffface! But the most important reason for handing you in was for Jet. You see, wefound out a few months ago, before you arrived, that Jet has a terminal illnessand desperately needs hospital treatment and it's too expensive for us toafford, but now that I have that reward, Jet can finally get better." Finchstated, with a blank look masking his face. To be honest, I understood hisreasoning; yes, I didn't like the fact that he had betrayed us, but Jet was theloveliest little boy and I would've handed myself in so he could get better. Well, I would have thought of an escape plan first, but I would've handed myself in so he could get better. Well, I would have thought of an escape plan first, but I would've made sure I had the money to save him.
"You betrayed us! You betrayed me! I'm disgusted that I once called you my best friend!" Onix spat at him. His anger had made his face red and his eye burn with fury.
"It's your own fault for siding with her!" Finch sneered back at him, before turning away and walking towards the other end of the room and sat down with his head in his hands.
"Now, back to real business. I must say it was very easy to set this up."
"But I thought you said you got all your information that we were coming from Finch." I said, confused, yet again.
"You think he would know exactly when you were going to get here? No, he was useful in warning me of that you were coming this way, but he couldn't possibly know when you would get here; though your messages, Onix, were quite useful in pinpointing a general time, though the scrolls did the rest." The Governor explained, but it didn't help one bit.
"The scrolls?"
"Yes, the scrolls, are you seriously stupid that you don't know about- oh, wait, the memory wipe." The Governor laughed. "That was inconsiderate of me, I apologise. The scrolls tell us over everything that has, is and will ever happen."
"I know that bit, what I'm confused about is how that helps with getting me here." I stated blankly, trying to get him to move along with his explanation.
"Well, everyone has a scroll, so it wasn't hard to find yours. It told me every detail of your life and what you were going to do, so when Finch oh so kindly told me that you were coming this way, all I had to do was find out when you were going to be here and let you come here. Of course it was unfortunate that you had to kill those guards outside the door, but it was necessary for you to get here." The Governor chuckled evilly, with a menacing look on his face. Creepy.
"There's a scroll about my life?"
"Yes, and may I just say, you did have a happy childhood until I threw you in that dump, but it was... necessary, because of... reasons." TheGovernor said vaguely. I gave him a sceptical look, only making him laugh evenmore.
"I was wondering about that. Why would you put a young girl in a prison and make her feel like she's been there all her life? Is it some kind of sick joke?" Onix demanded, practically fuming.
