Onix's POV

I couldn't help myself! She was just too adorable when she was showing how much she cared about Annie; I just had to kiss her, to show her I cared about her. It's sappy I know, but then again, it's the truth. I knew the guys would probably beat me up for being a wimp if they knew I was thinking this kind of crappy girly stuff, but eh, they can't get inside my head, so I'm safe.

I hadn't kissed anyone since I was eight years old and I kissed Patty Watson from my class at school, whilst we were in the playground when someone dared me to. Since then I was like ew or nah about girls, until I lost my parents and found my way to the guys. It was by pure luck really, I had never thought I would find a bunch guys in a rock, when I had run to the woods from my home. I had made a break for it, because social services, (yeah, they still exist, even after the Saboteurs ruined everything) wanted to throw me in an orphanage until I turned eighteen, instead of just leaving me alone, like I had asked; I was seventeen at the time, so what was wrong with leaving me be? I couldn't live in that slave labour camp of an orphanage, all they did all day was scrub the floors, cook and fight for a new home. No, thank you. I was quite happy with being free in the woods.

I felt a burst of confidence run through me as I grabbed Kennedy's hand and dragged her back the way we came, a grin lighting up my face. I turned to look at her, a frown covered her features as she though to hard about something, I could tell by the way her nose scrunched up the was it did, and her free hand was fidgeting with her clothes.

"You alright? You seem distant," She looked up at me in surprise, startled from breaking her train of thought.

"Uh, yeah, all's good, just thinking, you know, can't get enough of those thoughts..." She babbled, trailing off a bit at the end. I could tell she wasn't comfortable with the whole 'we just kissed' situation.

"Ok, well, if you're ok, then we really need to get back, unless you want to talk about something?"

"Nah, lets get back, I bet Annie is worried and I don't know how long Sad can stall her before she goes on a man hunt," she chuckled, obviously visualising Annie tracking us down. I had to admit, even after knowing Annie a few days, I could picture it happening.

Chuckling, I continued to pull her through the trees to the clearing.

Annie and Sade were nowhere to be seen when we got back to the clearing, my bet was that Sade had taken Annie to find some berries for breakfast.

I gathered a couple of hunting knives and Kennedy got her bow, once she saw what I had gathered; sliding the bow over her head so the it wrapped over one of her shoulders and the string crossed her torso. She then slung the quiver over her shoulder and grabbed her throwing knives and put them in the quiver, along with the arrows. I knew she preferred to use those while on a hunt, so it was pretty much guaranteed I would give her a few of mine, whilst we were hunting because mine were sharper and had a better size to weight ratio making them easier to throw and be on target.

We made our way into the wood, in silence and keeping light on our feet, trying not to disturb the undergrowth. It wasn't long before we had made it to a stream with some pheasants hanging around it, just minding their own business, little did they know, that they were our dinner tonight. Yum, pheasant stew, now that was an amazing dish my mother used to make. I shook my head, removing myself from the memory to focus on the fat birds, just on the other side of the trees. We were too far away to use the knives, so Kennedy pulled the bow over her head and removed an arrow from the sheath, knocking it into place. She slowly leaned out around the tree, pulling the string back to her ear, focusing on her target. I couldn't help but admire her concentration and focus on the task in front of her.
