Mattheo's POV

I poured another drink, an inexplicable restlessness coursing through my veins. As the halloween party continued around me.

"Hey, pour me one."

Luigi — or rather, Astoria — materialised beside me.

I obliged, handing her the cup. Her oversized green hat teetered precariously, the fake moustache clinging crookedly to her upper lip.

"So Matt, where've you been sneaking off to at night, huh? Feel like I haven't seen you much recently." She nudged me playfully, eyes glinting with curiosity.

The library with Lyanna, of course, but I couldn't tell her that.

"Oh, you know me." I deflected with a wink, my trademark smirk firmly in place.

Astoria rolled her eyes, then froze, her gaze caught by something near the stairs. "Aw, cute."

I followed her line of sight.

Enzo and Lyanna entered the common room, in matching costumes.

They kissed and made up I'm guessing...

Enzo was dressed as Peter Pan, green hat jauntily askew.

And Lyanna, Tinkerbell.

But reimagined.

Fiery curls cascaded over bare shoulders, tighter than her usual waves. Glitter dusted her collarbones like fairy dust. An emerald silk minidress clung to her curves, bare legs shimmering beneath. Golden Fairy wings fanning out from her back.

She looked...Sexy.

Astoria's second nudge snapped me out of my trance.

"The other night, you two looked pretty cozy." She smirked, her fake moustache twitching.

I scoffed, perhaps too quickly. "No we didn't."

"I thought she despised you with every ounce of her being..." She pressed.

My brow furrowed, a hint of irritation colouring my voice. "Every ounce? She tell you that?"

"Maybe."

Astoria's eyes danced with mischief.

She leaned in close, her lips grazing my ear. "But you want to know something, Matty? I don't believe her for a second."

With that, she melted into the crowd, leaving me alone with my thoughts.

My gaze gravitated back to Tinkerbell — to Lyanna.

Astoria's words echoed in my mind, raising more questions than answers.

Our conversation the other night still clung to my thoughts, but Lyanna never brought it up again.

In fact, she barely spoke to me at all.

She cancelled another tutoring session by handing me a note in class before scurrying away without a response.

I didn't protest.

She probably regrets talking about it, that's why she's afraid to confront me.

I also didn't know why it was bothering me so much.
