Lyanna's POV
Sleep eluded me, my mind a whirlpool of regret.
Mattheo's face haunted my thoughts.
I shouldn't have said anything.
What if he tells his friends? Pansy? The potential ridicule made me nauseous. Even though I hadn't revealed everything, he's smart enough to piece it together.
Morning brought dread.
The mere thought of facing him twisted my stomach. I hastily scribbled a note canceling our tutoring session, my heart thundering as I handed it to him, desperately avoiding his gaze.
At lunch, I spotted Enzo and Theo in the courtyard.
Astoria's encouragement echoed in my mind, along with Mattheo's unexpected support.
Maybe the party wouldn't be so bad? At least I could tell Professor Fig I tried.
Steeling myself, I approached. "Hey." I said, drawing their attention.
Enzo's smile bloomed, his cheeks flushing. Theo being perceptive, excused himself.
"You look pretty today." Enzo stammered. "Not that you don't always, just—"
I cut him off. "I'll go to the party with you."
His face lit up. "Really? Are you sure?"
I nodded, committing to the decision.
Enzo's apology tumbled out, genuine remorse in his eyes.
"Listen, about the other day... I didn't mean what I said. I didn't consider how uncomfortable you might feel. Matt said he talked to you, and even Pansy promised no trouble."
"It's ok." I reassured him, lifting his downcast gaze to meet mine.
He was undeniably handsome, but a part of me knew this wasn't meant to last.
Enzo leaned in, his kiss soft and comforting.
I sank into it, allowing myself this moment of normalcy.
His hands curved around my waist, pulling me closer, sending a flutter through my stomach.
But when he pulled away, my world tilted on its axis.
For a heartbeat, I saw...Mattheo? His eyes, his scar, his lips.
What the fuck?
The vision vanished as quickly as it had appeared, leaving me reeling.
Confusion warred within me as I stared at Enzo's oblivious smile.
