A few weeks later, his maternity (or paternity) leave finally ends and Atsushi is happy that he can finally go to work. He loved spending time with his daughter, but he also missed his friends and coworkers.
Now, he could spend time with both.
Before he leaves, he hires a babysitter for Kasumi. Atsushi and her know each other, because she's one of the waitresses from the agency. She and him quickly became friends and she agreed to be Kasumi's babysitter. She told Atsushi he doesn't need to pay her, but Atsushi made sure to leave some money for her anyway. He would feel bad if she took care of Kasumi for many hours and wouldn't get any money in return.
"Goodbye Kasumi!" He tells his daughter and kisses her, then finally leaves the house once the babysitter arrives.
Kyoka was probably already at the agency. They stopped living together ever since Atsushi gave birth. At first, Atsushi didn't want her to leave, but Kyoka was unable to sleep when Kasumi was crying and the weretiger didn't want to make her suffer.
So in the end, Kyoka went to live with Yosano while Kasumi got Kyoka's old room.
Atsushi walks through the streets and nostalgia hits him. He remembers how he used to take this path everyday until a few months ago, when he got his precious Kasumi.
Atsushi looks at the agency and smiles when Kyoka waves at him from the window. He waves back and enters the building.
„Atsushi! Help meee!" Dazai yells and quickly gets behind the weretiger, Kunikida is running after him and throws his notebook, which misses the bandaged man by a few millimeters.
"Damn it, Dazai. Do your work. And stop bothering Atsushi. It's his first day back" he says and reaches out his hand to the weretiger.
"It's nice to have you back" Knikida says and Atsushi smiles.
He missed all of his friends here.

A few hours later, he and Ranpo get assigned a mission together. Well, mostly just Ranpo. Atssuhi's only going along with him because everyone knows Ranpo would get lost if he went alone. Kunikida says it was a nice simple mission for Atsushii's first day back and the weretiger agreed.
"Let's go there" Ranpo says and points to a candy shop. Atssuhi wants to say that if they go there, they will not be on time for the mission meeting, but Ranpo's already heading towards the shop before the weretiger can say anything.
„Ranpo, wait!" He calls and runs after him.
A few minutes later, they walk out of the shop with Ranpo's arms full of packs of candy and chips and Atsushi's empty wallet. Sure, he still had money in his savings account, money that he would only use for Kasumi, but every time he thinks about how much money he lost, just because he bought Ranpo food, he feels guilty.
He should've used that money to buy food for his daughter... He knows he won't have too little money, because he'll always be able to ask someone in the agency for it, but taking it from someone and paying by himself were two different things.
After they meet with the policemen and Ranpo finishes the case much faster than the time spent even going to the scene of the crime in the first place, Atsushi feels his phone vibrate in his pocket.
He takes it out and sees the name. It's the babysitter and Atsushi's heart sinks for a second. Did something happen? Was his daughter in danger?
He quickly clicks the green button and puts the phone to his ear.
"What's wrong?" Is the first thing he asks and is glad when there aren't any screams on the other side of the call. He hears his daughter's laughs and giggles and lets out a sigh of relief.
"...does your daughter have an ability?" The woman asks and Atsushi tilts his head.
"I don't know, but I don't think so. Why?" He asks and hears the woman take a deep breath.
"Earlier today, Kasumi tripped and her knee started bleeding. It was my mistake. I was too busy making her food and wasn't careful enough. I'm sorry. After she started crying, I quickly went to your bathroom to get bandages and something to disinfect the wound, but when I came back... Her leg was full of fur and after I came close to her, it disappeared. The wound was gone too" The woman says and the weretiger's hand starts shaking a bit.
"Oh... Thank you for telling me" Atsushi whispers and hangs up the phone. His entire body is shaking uncontrollably.
His daughter. His precious child... She has the same ability as him.
She'd probably be used the same way as him.
Why did he have to make his daughter inherit the tiger ability? She will suffer because of him, he knows this.
Tears start rolling down his eyes and he tries very hard to stay on his feet, but his knees go wobbly and he falls to the ground. He doens0t know why he's this emotional.
Ranpo puts a hand on his shoulder, knowing what the call was about.
"She won't get hurt." He tells Atsushi and the weretiger slowly looks up at him,
"And how do you know that?" The weretiger scoffs
"Because she has you, Atsushi. You and all the people around you. She will be protected for the rest of her life. So don't worry. She will be fine"
