Trigger warning: Guns and blood loss

Time passes very fast when someone is happy. At least that's what Atsushi thinks.
Everyday, the second he wakes up, he looks forward to seeing his daughter. On some days, he wakes up and sees Akutagawa first and he always smiles at him. Seeing the diablo as a first thing in the morning always gave Atsushi butterlief, especially when he saw that Akutagawa was either feeding or playing with Kasumi.
Today, he and Akutagawa were trying to teach Kasumi about her powers. With time, Atsushi stopped worrying about her being able to turn into a tiger. There was still a bigr risk about her getting into danger, but what Ranpo told him stayed with him; that Kasumi was cared for by many people and many different organizations.
"Are you sure she turned into a tiger?" The diablo. Kasumi's in his lap and he's playing with a little red light, hoping her ‚cat' tendencies will awaken and she will try to chase it.
Unfortunately, that doesn't happen.
"She's not an animal. Stop that" Atsushi says and takes the lighter away. He puts it in his pocket and sits down next to Akutagawa.
He watches the two year old try to stand up and walk over to him. She was a bit of a late bloomer and only recently learned how to walk, but either way, Atsushi was very proud of her. Akutagawa too, even though Kasumi wasn't even his daughter. But it felt like she was.
Atsushi looks up at Akutagawa and his heart beats a bit faster when he sees the way Akutagawa's looking at his daughter. He knows that the diablo is one of those people who will protect her.
"Did you hear? We have a mission together today." Akutagawa says.
Atsushi nods and gives Kasumi some food and after that, she sits in his lap. Her back is facing him and Atsushi starts making little ponytails from her hair.
"Yes. I'm glad we finally have a mission together. I missed working together" Atsushi admits and smiles when Kasumi stands up again, this time with her beautiful, asymmetrical ponytails.
The daughter starts playing with her big legos and the men stand up too. Akutagawa grabs his coat and Atsushi opens the door after he hears a ring. Once he makes sure the babysitter will be able to stay and take care of Kasumi even if he only returns after 1 or 2 a.m., he follows the diablo out of the house.
They walk closely to each other, their shoulders and hands brushing against each other. They want to hold hands, but don't know how to. Both think the other doesn't like him back even though they're so affectionate with each other. They know they both have feelings for each other, but the diablo keeps thinking he doesn't deserve to be loved by Atsushi and Atsushi thinks that Akutaagwa would never love such a clingy person like him.
While riding the train to their destination, Atsushi lets his head fall on Akutagawa's shoulder, while the diablo puts his arm around his crush. He caresses Atsushi a bit and smiles when the weretiger leans closer.
He notices people glaring at them but Akutagawa doesn't care. Atsushi deserves this rest and the diablo will kill these people if they even try to wake and annoy him.
He can feel his feelings for Atsushi grow bigger and bigger every day.
An hour later, Atsushi wakes up and slowly sits up straight again.
"Sorry" He mutters to Akutagawa with a blush on his face but Akutagawa just shakes his head.
"Don't worry about it. I didn't mind" The diablo answers truthfully and Atsushi smiles with him, gently and full of passion.
"Let's go" The diablo says and stands up. He offers his hand to Atsushi and the weretiger takes it.
"Your hands are so cold..." He notices after he stands up.
"Yours are very warm." Akutagawa says and doesn't want to let go. Atsushi's hands are so soft, so warm, so comforting... But they have a mission to do, and Akutagawa knows he shouldn't get used to these small moments with Atsushi. He shouldn't have his hopes up.
His line of work forbids him from ever thinking of the far future.
The two men finally find the place and they sneak in. Their mission is to steal important documents from one of Mori's old doctor friends. Mori promised Fukuzawa to give the agency important information if one of the agency's members helped with the mission and Atsushi volunteered once he heard his partner would be Akutagawa.
Suddenly, they hear voices and Akutagawa pushes Atsushi to the wall. He puts his hand over the weretiger's mouth and pushes them as closely to the wall as possible. Atsushi can feel the other man's warm breath on his skin and he gulps.
His heart was making circles and he felt as if it would leave his body soon and fly into Akutagawa.
Akutagawa looks at Atsushi and it's visible he's feeling similar. But then, his eyes move down.
Down to Atsushi's lips.
They're both pumped full of adrenaline. Akutagawa leans in and puts his hand on Atsushi's cheek. Atsushi lets him and puts his hand on the back of Akutagawa's neck. He leans in too and they're inches away from kissing.
Of course, that must be the moment when the guards find them.
"It's him! That kid that costs 7 million!" One of the guards yells and AKutagawa quickly moves away from Atsushi, both from embarrassment that they got found out and also so he could protect Atsushi better. He knew the weretiger didn't need protecting, but it was a weird instinct to be the person between Atsushi and the gun the man was holding.
The man starts shooting and Akutagawa's Rashomon manages to take care of the bullets. Rashomon eats them up as if they're pizza and Akutaagwa grabs Atssuhi's wrist.
The two men run and know they need to get the documents as soon as possible. They got found out so there was no use trying to hide now.
„Here" Atsushi yells and shows the red doors, the same ones they saw on the pictures when Mori was telling them about the mission.
"Go! I'll hold them off!" Akutagawa yells and Atsushi nods. He goes into the room and starts searching for the documents while Akutagawa's fighting 5 different men. Unfortunately, all have guns.
Rashomon is much faster than all of them and just when Akutagawa thinks he won, he feels something hit his leg and by the time he feels the incredible pain, another bullet shoots him.
This time, in the chest.
At that moment, Atsushi comes out of the room and makes the man that shot AKutagawa fall to the ground, unconscious.
Maybe even dead.
Akutagawa doesn0t know what's happening anymore. The blood is leaving his body really fast and everything is becoming blurry. He struggles to stay conscious.
He hears Atsushi call out his name but doesn't understand any more words than that.
"At- sush-i" He manages to say before he closes his eyes.
The blood loss was too big. He might not survive.
Being with Atsushi... It was nice while it lasted. Akutagawa just hoped he'd have more time.
