Later that night, Mae and Anya were sprawled across the bed, completely absorbed in their game of Dress to Impress on Roblox, trying to create the most outrageous outfits possible.

"Okay, how do I look?" Anya asked, twirling her character in a ridiculously oversized tutu and sparkly shoes.

Mae burst out laughing. "You look insane, but I love it."

Just as Mae was about to fix her character's hair, her phone buzzed with a message. It was from Javon: "hey im bored"

"oh he's messaging you now, huh?" Anya ask curious.

Mae: lol what do u want me to do about it

Javon: idk keep me entertained 🥲

Mae: what r u even doing rn??

Javon: nothin just chillin. do u like cats?

Mae: um not really? actually im kinda scared of them 💀

Javon: fr? i love cats. i have one, but i also love dogs"

Mae: wait really? i LOVE dogs. i have loads of them at home"

Javon: loads?? like how many?

Mae: i have five 🥲

Javon: FIVE?? girl how do u keep up with that many dogs??

Mae: i have a Cane Corso named Astro, two Dobermans called Sisi and Dada (like Da Silva, my last name 🤪), a Cavalier King Charles named Ruby, and a Cocker Spaniel called Chicago

Javon: holy shit that's wild

Mae: yeah... my mum gave them to me. they were her last gifts to me before she passed away when i was 9

Javon: i'm sorry

Mae: anyways, what colours do u see the days of the week as?

Javon: the colours? what u mean?

Mae: u know, like for me, monday is yellow, tuesday is green, wednesday is pink, thursday is blue, friday is turquoise, saturday is orange and sunday is grey. doesn't everyone do that?

Javon: ohhh. i guess mine's close? but wednesday is blue for me, saturday is pink, thursday is yellow and monday is orange

Mae: that's so weird but kinda cool

Javon: yea, i guess. so, what's ur favourite colour?

Mae: black and silver. and maybe navy blue and pink. but mostly black and silver

Javon: mine's black and gold. even tho black isn't a real colour and gold's a metal 🙄🤷‍♂️

Mae: who cares, it still counts. yeah, i guess it does. black and gold is a strong choice tho

Javon: just like u with black and silver

Mae couldn't help but smile to herself as the conversation carried on, her mind wandering.

After Mae finished her chat with Javon, she put her phone aside and turned back to Dress to Impress. She'd almost forgotten she was still playing with Anya, who was waiting impatiently for her rating on the latest outfit.

"Hello?" Anya waved her hand dramatically in front of Mae's face. "You didn't even give me my five stars! Rude."

Mae laughed, but before she could respond, Anya grabbed a pillow and lightly whacked her with it. "That's for forgetting to rate my masterpiece!"

"Okay, okay!" Mae held up her hands in surrender, giggling. "Five out of five, I promise."

Anya crossed her arms, satisfied. "As you should." She tossed the pillow aside and flopped back down next to Mae. "But seriously, what were you and Javon talking about? You were smiling at your phone the whole time."

Mae shrugged, trying to seem casual. "Nothing special. We were just chatting about random stuff, like dogs and colours and... I don't know, it was chill."

Anya raised an eyebrow, giving her a teasing look. "Uh-huh, sure. That boy is so into you, it's ridiculous."

Mae rolled her eyes. "You're exaggerating, Anya. We're just friends, okay?"

"Friends, my ass," Anya retorted. "Mae, be real. He's perfect! He's good-looking, funny, healthy, has amazing taste in music, dresses well... and let's not forget, he's super kind, attentive, muscular and—oh, did I mention?—rich. He literally ticks every single box."

Mae sighed, sinking back into her pillows. "I know, I know. He's great, but I'm not in a rush, okay? Like, I'm not even in love with him yet."

Anya's eyes widened. "Yet?" she repeated, her voice playful. "Oh, so you admit he's your type?"

Mae laughed, feeling a bit flustered. "Okay, fine. Yes, he's definitely my type. But just because someone's your type doesn't mean you have to rush into things. I like taking my time."

Anya grinned. "Fair enough, but just so you know... he's a catch. Don't let this one slip, Mae."

Mae smiled softly, thinking about Javon for a moment. "Yeah, I know."

The two girls went back to their game, but Anya couldn't help throwing in little comments every now and then, making Mae's cheeks flush each time.
