Penelope
Lucian is aiming his arrow at the target, as I point in the middle. He tightens his grip on the bow before he tenses and I place a hand on his shoulder to calm him down, I lower his arm gently as I fix his aim and I laugh slightly.
"Luc, you need to relax or else your Evol won't activate."
I sigh as he releases the arrow without thinking forcing me to summon my blade mid air to slice the arrow it in half before almost hits someone and I breathe out in relief. Lucian calls to the person before turning to me.
"Sorry—! It's just hard to control it.."
I walk towards him and I smile faintly as I pat his head. "I know, especially when you have one of the top five strongest evols."
He looks at me with a stare of admiration.
"Tell me different ones again, please?"
That's the 100th time he has asked me this month, I take a deep breath before I sit down on a bench by the archery field, as I motion him too sit down beside me. He stares intently.
"Well where do I start..."
I think for a moment before I snap my fingers.
"Since we are talking about it already, I'll tell you the top five today."
He nods and stares at me.
"So first we have of course, hydro kinesis as in water manipulation, like your big brother. Which comes from the Lauren's family. Then we also have Shadow Manipulation, which Gabriella has, that comes from the Martinez family. Oh—! We also have yours which Is Light, your name means light after all, and of course it also comes from the Lauren's family."
I use my fingers, as I count how many I am saying.
"And—of course we have mind control, the name of that is just what it sounds like, which comes from the Mecer family. Then lastly we have pyro kinesis which is the control of fire, that comes from the Graham family."
He nods as he listens, before he looks down.
"It's a shame that you are forced to have your evil whenever your mom died—"
He immediately cuts himself off as he covers his mouth with his hand, I turn my head towards him.
I sigh, as I look down. It's true—my evol activated when my mother died. I wish it wasn't true, but there's nothing to prove otherwise since there's no records of the crimson moon sovereign here.
He clears his throat before he stands up and rushes off waving to me with a nervous smile.
"I think training is over for today, bye Penelope!" He calls out as he runs off.
Oh, Lucian.
...
I went into the Mantra Forest with my sword in my hand, to clear my mind by killing Sinners because the training with Lucian I had. I understand what he meant by being forced into having my evol.
Because It's not like I had a choice with this crimson moon shit, my mom died because of the people of Valort, so the ability passed onto me when I was a mere child.
I snap out of my thoughts the second I hear a scream deeper into the forest and my eyes widen as soon as I hear another sound; but it's not a scream this time, It's a monstrous growl of a sinner.
I run towards the commotion, deeper into the forest as I reach my destination I come to a stop as I see an injured soldier on the ground with his gun aiming at a huge sinner..
I grip the hilt of my sword before I rush and pull it out of the case, I jump high—throwing my blade in the air, kicking it hard at the hilt which it files through the air and cuts off the sinner at its head.
I make my sword disappear, then landing on my two feet effortlessly. I breathe out in relief as I turn around and watch the sinner dissipate.
I kneel down to the soldier, and I inspect his wound.
"Did it cut you? Or did you fall?"
He groans in pain, as he sits up straighter for me to see his wound better. It's deep.
"I scratched myself on an energy crystal as I fell. I'm fine, thank you."
I tilt my head to bandage his wound.
"What district are you?"
He winches in pain.
"I'm from district six, my name Is Collin Wayne."
I type his name in my watch and he comes up immediately and my eyes widen in shock.
"You are classified dead. The hell.."
He puts pressure on his wound.
"I have been missing for that long, huh?"
I stare at him in slight suspicion, before I stand up and hold out my hand to him.
"Can you walk?"
He stands up by taking my hand and I hold onto him so he can use me as a crutch, and we make our way back to camp.
