Penelope
"Penelope Dorothea. You have to leave, who's the villain in your story you may ask? It's the person who you hold most dear. If you keep flipping through the pages of this story, everyone around you is going to die. They are going to be dead, because of you—when you will loose the control of your emotions."
...
My eyes widen as I reach a hand towards the ceiling, in a cold sweat. I check my watch at my bedside table, 2:35 am. I left the front lines to get some rest at my own house five hours ago.
I sit up, getting out of my bed. Putting on my wrist watch before I touch my forehead, whose voice was that in my dream? It felt so familiar.I walk out of my room, into the kitchen. Opening the fridge to take out some chocolate milk. I open the tab, grabbing a glass from my cabinet and pour myself some. I touch my forehead as I sip the chocolate milk, It's like something is missing in my memories from when I was rescued by Mr. Laurens back when I was an infant.
A shiver runs down my spine as the feeling of being watched comes back, I turn my gaze around my kitchen before heading towards the living room. I know I'm not imagining it, there's something or someone watching me. Just like back at the forest.
I look behind me, but no one's there.
Breathing out in relief as I look out the window while sitting down on the couch.I stare at the moon, the crimson moon. It shines bright, I reach and clench my hair red hair. The silence of my house is deafening, I don't know why I feel as I'm being watched. It's not a feeling I should ignore just yet.
I check my watch, 3 am—I obviously can't sleep right now.I type in Blake's profile, his number pops up and I stare hesitantly. Should I really call him? The dream is bothering me, the person I hold most dear is him.
Before I can close the profile—he calls me first, I answer immediately.
"Hello?""You answered awfully fast, why are you awake?" He says through the line.
I sigh.
"I couldn't sleep, I had a dream.""A dream?"
I look out the window once more.
"Yeah—it was weird."
I check my watch again as I don't hear a response, he..hung up?I snap out of my thoughts immediately, jumping startled as he bursts through my front door. His shoulders going up and down as he breathes heavy pants—he was running. He immediately walks towards me after a moment of catching his breath and places his hands on my shoulders.
"Alright, I got here—as fast as I could."I look up at him, before he pulls me into a tight embrace. Wrapping his arms around my shoulders because of our height difference. My face gets buried against his chest as he places his chin on my head—I can feel his rapid heartbeat from running earlier. He caresses the back of my head, down my hair in a gentle manner.
"You don't have to tell me anything if you don't want to, Penelope, I'm here if you need me."
I wrap my arms around him his waist tightly, I feel comforted at his reassurance.
How could I ever doubt him, when he's always been and still is here for me?
