Scott stood up from his crouched position beside Jean, the remnants of the green goo clinging stubbornly to her face. "Don't move," he instructed firmly, stepping back just enough to line up his shotJean closed her eyes, her breath shallow and strained as she struggled against the suffocating substance
With careful precision, Scott tilted his visor and unleashed a narrow optic blast, the red beam slicing through the goo, peeling it away from Jean's skin
The goo splattered across the floor in green globs, and Jean gasped, finally able to breathe again
She coughed violently, her lungs burning from the brief moments she'd been deprived of air. Scott rushed forward, dropping back to his knees beside her, his hands gently cradling her face as he checked for any sign of lingering damage
(Elevator bell rings)
Toad's head snapped around as he heard the familiar ding of the elevator bell. The doors slid open to reveal Storm, her form bathed in the intense light of lightning crackling around her
Her eyes were glowing white, her power surging with the raw energy of a thunderstorm
Toad scowled, his frustration boiling over. "Don't you people ever die?" he snarled, advancing toward her, ready to resume the fight
But Storm's expression was calm and determined as she hovered, the storm's energy swirling around her. She flew forward, preparing for a decisive clash
As Toad approached, he was suddenly met with a fierce gust of wind. The force was so strong that it sent debris and shattered glass flying out of the broken windows
Toad struggled to maintain his footing, bracing himself against the gale, but the wind's sheer power was overwhelming. Pieces of furniture and glass were whipped around like confetti
Trying to steady himself, Toad was struck by a flying table, sending him sprawling. He flailed and grasped desperately at the air before managing to wrap his tongue around a sturdy railing, halting his descent
The room was now a chaotic maelstrom, the noise of thunder rumbling ominously as lightning illuminated the turbulent scene
Storm floated effortlessly in the center of the tempest, her presence commanding the storm's fury. She began to walk slowly towards Toad, her voice cutting through the howling wind. "Do you know what happens to a toad when it's struck by lightning?" she asked, her tone icy and unyielding
Toad's eyes widened with fear as the sound of thunder grew louder, a sharp crack slicing through the chaos. "Same thing happens to everything else," Storm finished with a steely resolve
In a swift, decisive move, Storm summoned a bolt of lightning that struck directly at Toad's tongue
The electric current surged through him, causing him to scream in agony. The force of the lightning was so intense that it forced him to let go of the railing
His scream echoed as he plummeted through the stormy sky, eventually crashing into the churning water below
As the tempest in the room subsided, Storm's eyes gradually returned to their normal state. She took a deep breath, the storm's fury fading as she turned to leave and find the others
Stepping carefully downstairs, she soon spotted Logan standing near the base of the stairs, his figure tense and alert
"Logan, is that you?" Storm called out, her voice filled with relief
Logan glanced back at her but quickly held up a finger to his lips, signaling for silence. "Shh," he whispered urgently. Storm moved closer, her eyes scanning the area for any sign of trouble
Logan's nostrils flared as he began to sniff the air, his senses working overtime. "The other one ain't that far away," he muttered, his gaze scanning the surroundings with a predatory focus
"Come on. We have to regroup," Storm urged, stepping forward, her concern evident
Logan's expression hardened, and he shook his head. "I know, but there's a problem."
Before Storm could react, Logan's demeanor shifted in an instant. In a swift, brutal motion, he turned around, his claws gleaming as he drove them into Storm's stomach. Her eyes widened in shock and pain, turning white as she gasped
Logan's face remained emotionless, the usual gruffness replaced by a cold detachment. "You're not part of the group," he stated flatly, his voice devoid of its usual warmth. With a sharp twist, he pulled his claws out of her, leaving her gasping and crumpling to the ground
Storm's form began to shimmer and shift as Mystique's transformation took hold. Her eyes turned from pained white to a vibrant yellow as she reverted to her original blue-skinned form
Mystique collapsed on the floor, the weight of her deception and the pain of the attack evident in her defeated posture
