You and Kinich walked down the quiet street, the sudden crack of a gunshot rang out in the distance, startling you. Instinctively, you screamed and lunged toward him, throwing yourself on top of him to shield him from whatever danger was out there. Your heart raced as you hugged him tightly, your body trembling against his as your mind reeled with fear.
Kinich didn’t flinch. His arms wrapped around you gently, and his calm voice cut through the panic. "Y/n... it's okay. It’s just the sound of a billboard short-circuiting. No one’s shooting."
You didn’t move at first, too shaken to process his words, your breath still fast and shallow.
"Hey," he said softly, his tone more reassuring. "It’s fine. Nothing happened. You can relax now."
Slowly, you lifted your head from his chest, your eyes meeting his as you realized you were safe. He looked at you, not with judgment, but with a kind of understanding. Your cheeks flushed with embarrassment, and you sat back up, pulling away slightly.
"I’m sorry," you muttered, feeling foolish for overreacting.
Kinich adjusted himself, sitting up too, but his expression stayed neutral. "Are you afraid of guns?"
