You grinned, revving the engine of Mavuika's bike, the loud roar echoing in the air. Mavuika's proud words still rang in your ears, and the sunglasses made you feel untouchable. You'd never done something like this before—never stormed up to someone's house, dressed like this, and demanded they come with you. Especially not Kinich.
He stood at his door, clearly not expecting you to show up like this. He blinked, wide-eyed, taken aback by the transformation in front of him. "Hop on," you ordered with a teasing smirk, dropping the helmet right on his head before he could even respond.
He opened his mouth, looking as if he might say something about how ridiculous this all seemed, but you cut him off, "Not a joke, Kinich. Now hold on to my waist or you'll fly off." His eyes narrowed, probably still trying to decide whether or not you were serious, but he complied, wrapping his arms around your waist—awkwardly at first. You chuckled at his discomfort as you revved the engine again.
The moment you kicked off, you felt the wind whipping through your hair and Kinich tightening his hold on you, his grip a bit firmer than necessary. It was clear that this wasn't his idea of a casual hangout. Not that you cared—today, you were in control.
"You—" Kinich started to say something, his voice strained from the wind.
"Just hold on, Kinich," you giggled, your voice half-drowned in the rush of air. "Don't touch anything, and don't even think about stopping me."
You pushed the bike even faster, and out of the corner of your eye, you saw Ajaw in the distance, the familiar figure chasing after you both, desperate and relentless. Kinich shifted behind you, tensing up as he turned his head to see Ajaw getting closer.
"Slow down—this is getting dangerous!" Kinich's voice barely carried over the rush of the wind.
But you only laughed, exhilarated by the speed, by the absurdity of it all. "This is a lesson for Ajaw!" you called out over your shoulder, grinning. "He's gotta learn to stop chasing you everywhere, and *I'm* the one teaching it!"
The faster you went, the closer Ajaw came, pushing himself hard to keep up. Kinich winced slightly, and you could tell he was having second thoughts about this whole thing. "You're *crazy,* you know that?" he shouted
"Stare straight ahead and enjoy the ride!" you teased, eyes twinkling as the bike zoomed down the empty road, the wind practically ripping Kinich's hair out of its place. You could feel his grip tightening around your waist, his knuckles white under the pressure.
You revved the engine once more, pushing the bike even faster, your laughter mixing with the roar of the wind. "Come on, Kinich! *Enjoy* it!" you called back to him, barely containing your glee.
Kinich gave you a sharp look, probably thinking you were insane, but there was a flicker of something in his eyes—a challenge, perhaps? Or maybe a hint of admiration, though he'd never admit it.
Eventually, you spotted Ajaw gaining on you, and with a mischievous grin, you slammed on the brakes, letting the poor thing catch up. Ajaw came bounding towards you, practically frothing with anger as he skidded to a stop beside the bike. "*WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!*" Ajaw shouted, clearly out of breath and furious.
You couldn't help but giggle. His indignation was adorable. Before he could launch into another rant, you reached out and grabbed his tail, tugging gently. "Relax, Ajaw. If you want to stick with Kinich, you're gonna have to listen to both of us."
Ajaw's eyes went wide, and you could see the irritation boiling over as he glared at you. He even bared his teeth, as if he might bite you right there. But instead of backing off, you simply lifted him up and plopped him onto your shoulder. "Come on now," you said playfully, "we're gonna be the bestest friends!"
