Lia unpacked her boxes, rifling through them to find suitable clothes. Her hands trembled slightly, but it was a mix of emotions coursing through her — nervousness and excitement.

Nervousness was understandable; she was going to a classmate’s home, after all. But excitement? That was more complicated, and Lia didn’t want to think too much about it.

It wasn’t just because she was going to a classmate's house — it was him, and that made her excitement harder to suppress.

After rummaging for a few more minutes, she finally found a decent outfit and changed. Standing in front of the mirror, Lia critically assessed her reflection.

The jeans and sweater were presentable enough for meeting his family, but it wasn’t her outfit that held her gaze. Her cheeks were flushed, and her thoughts had shifted in a direction she didn’t want them to go.

"You're not trying to impress him," she muttered to herself, narrowing her eyes at her reflection. "He's your sister's boyfriend. High possibility he’ll be your brother-in-law. Stay in your lane. Respect their relationship and remember your boundaries."

Smacking her cheeks lightly, she winced as the redness deepened, but for an entirely different reason now. She stared at herself in the mirror, willing her thoughts to behave.

"You don’t want the same thing to happen again, right?" she whispered, her voice a little firmer. Finally feeling somewhat grounded, she grabbed her backpack and headed downstairs.

Meanwhile, Edward pulled up to the Swan house, trying to focus on the task at hand. He repeated to himself that this was just about the project with Vidalia. He had to keep his distance and remember that Bella was his priority, but even those thoughts felt hollow lately.
