The morning broke over the Little Palace, the sun casting its golden light over the grounds. The air was crisp, carrying the scent of the forest with it, and Aleksander was already awake, his senses sharp as he prepared for the day. He knew what was coming. He could feel it.
Amira's note had promised the continuation of their game, but there was a new energy in the air—an anticipation that made his wolf restless, eager for the chase. Aleksander stood by the window, his sharp gaze sweeping over the forest just beyond the palace grounds. Somewhere out there, she was waiting.
And then, just as he had expected, it began.
A flash of white fur darted across the treeline, quick and agile, her movements so fluid that for a moment, she seemed like a ghost. Amira, in her wolf form, had always been faster than most. But today, there was something different in the way she moved—more daring, more playful.
Aleksander shifted into his wolf form, his black fur bristling as he took off after her. The chase was on.
The first game was just as it had always been: a race through the woods, the trees blurring past as they wove between the underbrush. Amira stayed ahead, just out of reach, her laughter echoing in Aleksander's mind as she twisted and turned, her white fur gleaming in the morning light.
He pushed harder, his muscles straining as he tried to close the distance between them, but she was too fast, too clever. She slipped through narrow gaps, leaped over fallen branches, and disappeared into the forest before he could even get close.
By the time he reached the clearing where she had vanished, the game was over. The morning chase had ended just as it always did—with Amira eluding him once again.
Afternoon Chase
But the game wasn't over yet.
Aleksander had barely caught his breath when he saw her again, this time in the afternoon sun, her white fur flashing between the trees. She didn't give him time to rest. The moment their eyes met, she was off again, darting through the forest with a speed and grace that made his heart race.
Aleksander growled low in his throat, his wolf eager for the chase as he shifted once more and took off after her. The afternoon sun filtered through the canopy, casting dappled shadows on the ground as they raced through the woods. This time, Amira pushed the boundaries of their game, taking sharper turns, doubling back on her path, and leading him through terrain that was more challenging than usual.
But Aleksander was not deterred. He followed her every move, his black wolf form weaving through the trees as he tried to catch her. She was close—so close—but every time he thought he had her, she would slip away, disappearing behind a tree or leaping over a stream, her laughter teasing him from just beyond his reach.
The second game ended much like the first, with Aleksander standing in the middle of the forest, his chest heaving as Amira vanished into the shadows.
But he knew she wasn't done. Not yet.
Night Chase
As the sun set and the sky darkened, casting a soft twilight glow over the palace grounds, Aleksander returned to his chambers, his body tired from the day's chase. He had barely sat down when he heard it—a faint sound, almost like a whisper carried on the wind.
His wolf stirred, alert. She was out there again.
This time, Aleksander didn't hesitate. He shifted into his wolf form and darted out into the night, his black fur blending seamlessly with the shadows as he searched for her.
Amira had always been a challenge to catch in the daylight, but at night, she was nearly impossible to track. Her white fur stood out against the darkness, but her movements were quick and elusive, disappearing into the night like a phantom.
