The Game Continues
The days following the announcement were filled with a mixture of excitement and anticipation. Amira and Aleksander continued their usual game of chase, the thrill of the hunt keeping their bond strong. Even though the official ceremony to make her Alpha Luna was approaching, the playful nature of their relationship remained intact. It was their way of staying connected, a reminder of the journey that had brought them to this point.
Amira loved every moment of it. The forest had become their playground, a space where she could let her wolf run free and enjoy the thrill of being pursued by Aleksander. But as the day of the ceremony drew closer, the tension around them began to shift. The pack's excitement was growing, and with it came a sense of pressure.
And not everyone was happy about it.
Zoya's Challenge: A Test of Strength
It happened just days before the ceremony. The sun was setting, casting a golden glow over the training grounds as Amira was finishing her daily run. Her mind was focused on the upcoming ceremony, the excitement bubbling just beneath the surface. But that excitement was interrupted when Zoya stepped into her path.
The look on Zoya's face was cold, her eyes filled with anger and frustration that had been simmering since the announcement. She had kept her distance for days, watching as Amira settled into her role as the Alpha Luna-to-be, but now, it seemed she had reached her breaking point.
"I'm not letting this go," Zoya said, her voice sharp as she squared her shoulders, standing tall in front of Amira. "You're not fit to be our Alpha Luna."
Amira raised an eyebrow, her wolf stirring restlessly inside her. She had been expecting something like this, especially from Zoya, but hearing it spoken aloud sent a jolt of irritation through her. "What's your problem, Zoya?"
Zoya's eyes flashed, her wolf bristling just beneath the surface. "My problem? My problem is that you don't deserve this. You've been hiding who you are for years, playing games in the forest while the rest of us have been here, working hard for the pack. You think you can just waltz in and take the title? I don't think so."
Amira's jaw tightened, her heart pounding as she met Zoya's gaze head-on. "I've earned my place."
Zoya let out a harsh laugh, her hands clenched into fists at her sides. "You think so? Then prove it."
Amira narrowed her eyes. "What are you talking about?"
Zoya took a step closer, her voice low and filled with challenge. "A wolf fight. You and me. If you're really the Alpha Luna, then show me. Show the pack you deserve it."
Amira's heart raced, her wolf growling softly in the back of her mind. A wolf fight wasn't something she had anticipated, especially so close to the ceremony. But as she looked into Zoya's eyes, she knew there was no backing down. Zoya was trying to test her strength, to push her and see if she was truly worthy of the title.
And Amira wasn't about to let her get away with it.
The Challenge Accepted
Amira straightened her posture, her voice steady as she met Zoya's challenge head-on. "Fine. If that's what you want."
The tension between them crackled, the air thick with the weight of the impending fight. Zoya's eyes gleamed with satisfaction, her wolf practically snarling with anticipation. But Amira remained calm, her wolf growling softly, ready for whatever was to come.
Aleksander's Concern
Word of the challenge spread quickly, and by the time Amira made her way back to the Little Palace, Aleksander had already heard. His dark eyes flashed with concern as he approached her, his voice low but filled with worry.
