The sun was low on the horizon, painting the sky in hues of gold and crimson as the battlefield settled into an eerie calm. The rogues had been dealt with, and the pack was rallying to clean up and care for their wounded. Amid the aftermath, Aleksander turned his attention to Amira, his pregnant Alpha Luna, who had stood tall and resolute during the chaos.

Now, her strength was waning, and he could see the exhaustion etched into her delicate features. Without a word, Aleksander swept her into his arms, cradling her against his chest as though she were the most precious thing in the world.

"You've done enough, my Queen," he murmured, his deep voice carrying a rare gentleness. "Let me take care of you now."

Amira didn't protest. Her body ached from the strain of the battle, and the pups within her stirred faintly, a reminder of the life they were protecting. She rested her head against Aleksander's chest, the steady rhythm of his heartbeat soothing her.

The Little Palace's Embrace

By the time they reached the Little Palace, the adrenaline of the fight had left Amira completely, replaced by a bone-deep fatigue. Aleksander carried her through the grand hall, his presence commanding yet protective. The wolves they passed lowered their heads in respect, their relief and admiration clear in their expressions.

Aurelia followed close behind, her steps steady despite the minimal injuries she had sustained in the skirmish. Her sharp eyes scanned her father and Amira, ensuring they were unharmed.

When Aleksander reached their chambers, he gently placed Amira on the plush bed, arranging the pillows to support her. The soft glow of the room's lanterns bathed her in a warm light, emphasizing the golden strands in her hair and the peace that was finally settling over her.

"You should have rested sooner," Aleksander said, his tone soft but firm as he knelt beside the bed. He took her hand in his, his thumb brushing over her knuckles.

Amira managed a small smile, her other hand moving to her rounded belly. "You know I couldn't. Not until it was over."

Aurelia entered quietly, carrying a basin of water and a cloth. She placed them on the nightstand before stepping back, her respect for her stepmother evident in her careful movements.

"You're safe now," Aurelia said, her voice steady but warm. "Both of you."

Amira glanced at her, gratitude in her tired eyes. "And so are you. Thank you, Aurelia, for everything you did out there."

Aurelia shrugged, her lips twitching into a small smile. "It's what we do."

The Bond's Power

As Aurelia stepped back, Aleksander began tending to Amira with a care that belied his usual commanding presence. He dabbed a cool cloth over her forehead, his dark eyes filled with concern as he checked her for any injuries she might not have noticed.

Amira placed a hand on his cheek, her thumb brushing lightly against his skin. The bond between them pulsed softly, a warm, golden thread of connection that tied their very souls together. As it flared to life, Aleksander stilled, his eyes fluttering shut for a moment.

The bond worked its magic, accelerating the healing of the minor injuries he had sustained in the battle. Cuts faded, bruises lightened, and the tension in his muscles eased. When his eyes opened again, they were softer, their usual sharpness tempered by relief.

"You always take care of me," Amira whispered, her voice barely audible. "Let me take care of you, too."

Aleksander leaned into her touch, his lips curving into a rare, genuine smile. "You already do, Amira. In more ways than I can ever repay."
