Chapter 15

After classes I went with Neville to our room and began to teach him how to pick up girls.

"The first step Neville is appearance." I explained. "We have to wear robes and it doesn't allow for much improvement beyond some basic jewelry. What you can change however is the way you hold yourself and your facial features."

"What's wrong with my face?" Neville asked bringing a hand to his face.

"Nothing in particular, you just have a very normal face. That means that you don't stand out and aren't very memorable. That's good if you don't want to be noticed by bullies, but it isn't good if you want to pick up girls."

"So if I change my face a bit I can get a girlfriend." Neville asked hopefully.

"Not so fast Neville, this is a long process and not just something you can do in a day."

"Now for your face I would say go to St Mungo's and see the doctors to fix your crooked teeth. Get a hair cut that doesn't look so shaggy and get a necklace with a pendant of some kind. Make sure it isn't something girly since some girls assume you are in a relationship if you wear something like that. The kind of girls who are after you even while thinking that are not good and you should avoid that."

"That's a lot to take in." Neville said with a frown. "That all costs money though Alex."

"It does, but it's the easiest things you can do."

"This sounds like a lot of trouble to just get a girl to like me. My mom told me that the right girl for me would show up when I wasn't even looking for a girlfriend."

"That is right and wrong. If you never put yourself out there then girls will never notice you and it becomes much more difficult to find someone to date once you become an adult since then you have a job to focus on, well that is unless you blow off work or be a bum living off of family."

"So if I don't get a girlfriend before I graduate I'll never have one." Neville said in horror.

"Not necessarily." I said calming Neville down. "It just becomes more difficult since at that point most girls have a much more specific type of guy by then. They'll be looking at your job, looks, how much money you make and have saved up, and your skills with things like cooking, housecleaning, and others. Not to mention your skills in bed."

Neville blushed at the last one. "I don't think I'll be able to ever get a girl, I'm not skilled in any of those things and I don't have any money other than the allowance my gram gives me."

"You don't have to worry about that right now Neville. Right now you're still in school and you can focus on finding a girlfriend even if you don't have those things. That's why I'm trying to get you a girlfriend while it's still easy."

Neville let out a sigh of relief. "Thanks Alex, I don't think I would even know anything until it was to late and I ended up single forever."

"It'll still be difficult since girls do have things they look for in guys, but that's why I'm going to train you up so you can get a girl." I raised up a thumb to Neville who looked at me with awe.

"This sounds like it'll be fun." I heard Fred say from the doorway.

"Mind if we listen in?" George said from behind him.
