"Avery" my grandma ambushed me the second I walked in.

"Hi grandma. I'm sorry I am so late. I was ummm uuhhh...." I could think of anything to say.

"O it's fine dear. I'm glad your spending time out if the house. I hope your making friends" granny smiled sweetly. This is not what I expected. I thought she would be furious. Instead she was cool, kind and collective. It was 5 right? Yepp the kitchen counter said 5:00.

I didn't know what to say. This was a completely different over protective grandma I knew my whole life. When I first got here she would hover over me and when I went for a run she would kill me with questions like where I had been.

"We'll dinner is at 6 tonight. We're having eggplant, your grandpa's favorite and there's a chicken pot pie in the freezer for you that I will heat up. Since I know you hate eggplant" granny smiled sweetly. She was a really nice person and was very considerate.

I did hate eggplant and did swallow it down when she cooked it but then she saw one day I threw it out and she asked me why u didn't eat. That's when I had to tell her the truth. She was fine with t though and to next time just tell her. After that every time she would make eggplant she would make me a chicken pot pie.

"Thank you" I smiled but was still weary.

"We'll why don't you go do homework. You missed the first month of school so you probably have some catching up to do" she smiled and watched me nod and walk upstairs to my bedroom.

On the first floor was the kitchen and bathroom. On the second floor was 3 bedrooms. Grandma and grandpa had the bedroom that had a window looking in the front of the house while I had the bedroom looking out the backyard an woods. In between our rooms was dads old room when he was a kid and the bathroom. I haven't been in my dads room and never will. I could sometimes still smell my dad in there when he was a pup under the door. When ever I went by the room I would look at the wall or floor.

When I got to my bed room I switched on my tv that was on the opposite side of the room of my bed. My bed was in the fatherest side if the room which wasn't big. My bed was a double which was fine for me and was against the window which was nice. My tv was small but had a clear image and got good channels. Over all my bedroom was smaller then my old room but still was nice and comfy.

I then jumped on the bed and surfed threw the channels. I did start school 1 month late because I forgot to register and really didn't want to go back to school and face everybody. This highschool was really easy though and I had already gone threw all the subjects from my old school that thy were teaching in my new school. My old school though was a private school.

*************Grandma**************

I watched Avery climb the stairs to her room and couldn't help but smile. She was so surprised when I didn't yell at her for being late. I know I can be over protective but I love her. She was my only granddaughter and her father and her brother died so she is the only grandchild I will ever have. So I am protective over here. Me and Grant are here only protecters now.

She's not part of the Knight of the night pack. Well at least not yet. I was going to asker her soon if she wanted to join. I had already to alpha knight if he would let her join and he was fine with it. Since she was orphaned and didn't turn on people or other wolves because of her loss he was fine with it. I didn't want to pressure or make her feel like she had to join the pack though because she already has been through so much.

Since the massacre she hasn't been her self. It's a new Avery that comes down the stairs every morning. I understood her depression for the first few months but now I was getting worried. She hasn't returned to her friendly and outgoing self that I knew her to be. I didn't see much of Avery or Ryan web they were pups and I regret that everyday.

Ryan was going to be a great alpha, the calls that I got from Sierra worrying that John was over working Ryan told me so. I remember reassuring Sierra almost every night that Grant trained John just has hard has John was now training his son. All alphas train there first born son, or the son that win the alpha challenge if there more then one sons born, very hard. It does seem a little cruel and harsh at first but in the end does pay off and makes a great alpha.

The one night though, when Sierra told me that John didn't let Ryan go to Avery's 16th birthday sleepover was out of line. At first I was weary. 16th birthday celebration could be crazy since a pup gets its wolf and can shift then but Sierra reassured me that it was just some human friend and Daren that might had been Ryan's beta. She then said John almost did let Avery go and wanted to start her training and that just pushed me over the edge. Every wolf deserves to have a party when they turn 16 and get their wolf. I then had her put on John and gave him the lecture of his life. After I was threw with him he promised me he would run with Ryan to the lake house he had and would surprise Avery. I then made sure John did so and had Sierra call me when they left. I just wish I knew what the out come would have been. I still blame my self for that packs slaughter.

When Avery didn't get home from school though I got worried. She told me she would come home after school and she hasn't made any friends yet. The whole 7 months she has been here she hasn't talked to many people. She goes for runs in her wolf form a few times a week but other then that didn't really talk. The few times a month I got her to come down and watch a movie with Grant and I she would be completely silent and I could tell she didn't really pay attention. At dinner she wouldn't talk that much unless she was spoken to and was very detached. I could still see the kind and considerate girl inside of her though every once in a while. When she didn't eat my eggplant but still hid that she didn't like it, shows that she isn't completely gone.

At 3 I was jumping at any car driving by thinking it was Avery coming home. I was so worried. I was just about to call Grant when I got the call from the alpha congratulating us I was so confused which turn to complete relief when he told me Avery was there and safe. When he said Avery was Jason's mate I was jumping up and down with joy. My granddaughter was an alphas mate! I couldn't wait to congratulate her.

I wanted her to tell me on her own though and not over whelm her. I knew being the upcoming Luna, and Jason being an future alpha would take time getting use to. It didn't help that Jason probably was like Ryan being an alpha in training to. It would be hard for her to get back to her self being gone for so long but I had complete fate in her and knew she would be a great Luna.
