Law school had taken a bigger toll on you than you had expected.

Your nose was buried on the fifth hour in your book and papers, and the once dream of yours, had now become a stress factor.

You highlighted a paragraph when the sound of the front door opening, echoed through the house, and a familiar voice called out declaring she was home.

Your studying continued, your stomach growling and begging for food but your brain was determined to get it over with and finish the work. That was until two arms snaked down from behind you, wrapping around your neck and resting on your tired shoulders.

"Hm... thought I could find you here" a soothing, intoxicating voice whispered into your ear, and you felt an absentminded smile tug at your lips as your eyes kept moving from right to left, reading.

Lana's head shifted from being nuzzled against your ear to look down at the book and papers in front of you. The same book you had been occupied with for weeks.

A gentle sight left her mouth and a slight ache appeared in her beating heart.

"Sweetheart are you too busy to even greet your girlfriend?" she asked, placing a gentle and soft kiss to the side of your head as she kept looking down at the table where your pen moved across the papers.

A soft hum escaped your lips, your eyes focused on your work. You had been distant like this for weeks, and it was starting to bother Lana.
Though most importantly, it was starting to concern her.

"Baby." She said a little more firm now, gaining a reaction from you when you jumped slightly in your chair, getting kicked out of your
study-trance.

"Hm?" You asked, turning your head over your shoulder to look at her standing behind you. Her face was laced with concern and deep worry for you; which you didn't let go unnoticed.

"You're studying too much..." she simply stated.

"It's unhealthy, you barely eat and you barely speak anymore"

A feeling of guilt set deep down in your core, and you swallowed. You sighed and leaned your head against her as you still sat on the chair, Lana caressing your shoulder.

"I'm sorry" you mumbled.

Her heart ached and she couldn't stay annoyed with you for long before she cradled your head against her chest. "Don't be sorry baby... I'm just worried about you"

You looked up at her with a gentle smile. "I'm fine though... just a lot of homework" you said, trying to reassure her but your false reassurance didn't work on her.

"I know you're not fine. Now please close that book and come to bed with me... it's late" she muttered out, burying her thumbs into your shoulder blades and you hummed in satisfaction.

"But-"

"Shh." Lana quieted you gently.

You looked up at her sighing before turning around to close your book and turn off your laptop, making sure to save everything. You then turned back to Lana and stood up, leaning against her side.

Lana's arm instinctively wrapped around your waist, pulling you closer to her before the two of you made your way upstairs and into the bedroom where your cozy bed awaited you. Gosh you hadn't had a good sleep for weeks, which was clear by the bags under your eyes and your fragile body.

Lana's hand extracted from your waist as she made her way to the closet. Soon one of her oversized t-shirts were thrown at you, indicating you had to change. Which you soon did.

You walked to your side of the bed, plopping down on the mattress before lying down completely, letting the covers embrace you in a warm and content hug. It wasn't long before two arms were snaking around you, pulling you closer to Lana's body.

"I'm tired" you mumbled against her chest, your face already nuzzled into her.

She stroked your silky locks, kissing the top of your head. "I know" she simply stated, letting the silence bring a comfortable atmosphere to the moment. The past nights you had insisted on studying when Lana went to bed, which ended up with you crawling into bed at 2am, Lana already fast asleep gaining you zero cuddles.

Tonight though was different, and you felt like it had been an eternity since you had felt her cuddles and kisses. Which unfortunately had been your own fault. You snuggled up to her closer, wrapping a leg around her waist, hooking it around her to bring her close to you. You couldn't be close enough.

"I'm sorry" you muttered.

Lana's heart clenched, her arms tightening around your petite frame. "For what?"

You swallowed nuzzling your face against her chest. "For being so distant... I haven't been a good girlfriend lately" you said, your own words hitting you like a dose of reality.

Lana caressed your head, squeezing your shoulder. "Hey, don't be sorry silly" she kissed your hair. "You started law school, its only expected for you to be busy" Lana said, nuzzling her nose into your hair, breathing in the scent of your shampoo that she loved. It made her feel content and she had missed it.

"That's not an excuse. I just realized how much I've missed our cuddles and quality time, which means you've probably missed it just as much... it's not fair to you" you explained, your voice tinged with guilt.

"Sshhh... sweetheart. Yes I've missed it but I have you here with me now" she whispered. "Close your eyes now, you need rest"

You were reluctant to close your eyes but the steady sound of her heartbeat sent you off to slumber, making Lana smile. Finally.

Finally she could hold you while you slept. It was almost satisfying to see you rest at last. She squeezed you in her arms, staring at you lovingly, knowing that right now, nothing could stress you out or hurt you. She was there to hold you and kiss you and cuddle you. Just like she had been longing for.

"Goodnight my sweet girl" she whispered, knowing only your subconscious mind would hear her. And she was right when a small smile grazed your lips at her words, making her smile as well. How beautiful you were when you rested. She had almost forgotten.

... almost.
