Storm: Neanderthals. We once believed that they were wiped out by years of conflict with a much more advance branch of humanity called Cro-Magnon man.
She gives a presentation on Neanderthals to the students.
Storm: But recent research into our own DNA suggests that these two species may have interbred, evolving into modern humans.
A boy looks behind him and sees a girl eating ice cream as he puts on a smile.
Storm: Into other words, into what?
Children: Us.
Storm: Us.
The girl sticks her tongue out and the boy does the same as the girl sees his tongue in two and turns away in disgust.
Storm: Artie!
Artie stops and turns to her.
Storm: Not here.
A boy looks a sabertooth skull and touches one of it's fangs as Jean redirects the boys attention to the other exhibits, Scott turns to her and smiles at her. Jean hears multiple voices whispering to her as she turns.
Man 1: ...makes me insane when she does this.
He looks at Jean and the voices continue to whisper as she continues to dart her eyes around.
Woman 2: What are you looking at? You sick...
She states at Jean.
Man 2: Busted my lip...
Man 3: That dumb...
Boy 1: Cancer...
Boy: To the shelter...
Man 2: No...
Boy 3: ...why?
The voices continue to overwhelm Jean as some of the screens flicker and Scott notices.
Scott: Jean? You okay?
He touches her wrist and the voices stop as Jean looks at him.
Jean: Yeah.
Scott knows she's lying.
Jean: Yeah. I'm fine. It's just a... It's just a headache.
She touches her head and Scott doesn't buy it.
Scott: It's not just a headache, is it?
Jean looks off into the distance.
Scott: Listen, I... I wasn't really sure how to say this, but, you know, ever since Liberty Island, you've been--
Jean: Scott.
Scott: You've been different.
Jean looks at him.
Jean: My telepathy's been off lately. I can't seem to focus. I can hear everything.
Scott: Jean, it's not just your telepathy. A month ago, you had to concentrate just to levitate a book or a chair across the room. Now, when you have a nightmare, the entire bedroom shakes.
Jean knows he is right.
Jean: My dreams are getting worse. Scott... I keep feeling like something terrible is about to happen.
Scott pulls her in and she wraps her arms around him.
Scott: I would never let anything happen to you.
Storm: Hey.
Scott and Jean pull back.
Storm: Have you guys seen Y/N and Rogue?
