Ryan's P.O.V

I was now 30 feet away from my house and I was very tired, I had finished my water a block ago and even if the sun wasn't hitting that hard I was mentally scolding myself for not wearing a cap nor putting on sunscreen. I stopped jogging and placed my hands on my knees as I tried to catch my breath.

I stood back up, took my sweaty shirt off and wiped my face with it before resuming my actions. This time, I walked what was left to my house.

It was currently 8:30 a.m and, after yesterday, my anxiety was so bad it didn't really let me sleep. I didn't want anyone to worry, so decided to go out for a run. The only problem with that was that I hate running, so I didn't really run as much as I stopped to drink water and check my pulse scared that my heart would explode.

"What are you doing up this early?" Ben's voice made me look up from my feet and the grass beneath them.

"Good morning to you too" I said with a tired smile.

"Ryan, did you go for a run?" Eloise asked me with a soft laugh.

"I tried" I said, still out of breath "Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go take a shower" I told them and walked through the porch to the door and opening it, I walked back into the house.

"How'd it go Forest Gump?" My dad joked, sitting at the kitchen bar with his mug in hand.

"That was enough to remind me why I didn't go to police academy" I told him, pointing at the closed door behind me.

"I still remember the look on your face when my friend Guss told you what the physical training was like" he laughed and took a sip of his coffee.

"I couldn't climb a rope when I was 12 I wasn't gonna be able to do it at 20 years old. It's pointless" I shook my head at him and turned my body to face the staircase.

"Was that when you realized that Andy Samberg is an actor and not a detective?" He asked me jokingly.

"I always knew that.. it was when I realized that there's a reason Jake Peralta is out of shape" I argued

"Yet you became a firefighter..." he said with a fake confusion expression.

"It's different, we pull each other up with ropes. I've never seen a cop climb a rope anyway" I told him.

"I guess you're right" he nodded, still thinking about what I just said.

"Now I'm gonna take a shower before the sweat sets in and makes me smell like a skunk the rest of the day, bye dad" I added and went upstairs.

The blue eyed man rolled over on the bed, still asleep but he opened his eyes when he felt the empty spot that usually belongs to his girlfriend. He lifted his head off the pillow and blinked to wake up a bit quicker, confirming that he was in fact alone in bed.

"Why do you always look confused when you wake up?" Ryan asked her boyfriend as she walked into her room.

"Cause I'm not used to having the whole bed to myself anymore. Not one this big at least" Matt said as he sat up "Why are you all sweaty?" He asked with furrowed eyebrows "Did you go to the gym without me?" He gasped loudly "Who is he?!" He joked.

"I went for a run, that's all" she she said and went to her drawers to get clean clothes.

"You went for a run? At 8 a.m" the brunette lifted an eyebrow at her "Who are you and what did you do with my girlfriend?" He joked.

"I actually woke up at 7, went downstairs and fell asleep on the couch while putting my sneakers on" Ryan confessed " but when I woke up I did go out for a run, which I hated" she told Matt.
