I needed love
But not from just anyone
I needed love from the people I loved
For someone to look at me and see my light, my kindness, my selflessness, and my worth
I needed them to see my pain
To hold my heart
And heal my soul
That unconditional type of love
I needed a parents love
The unwavering, no-strings-attached kind
The kind that seemed so rare and increasingly scarce in today's world
Love that every child deserves, but evidently not every parent can provide.
