After dinner, Mr. Bae stood up and looked at Jennie with a soft smile. "Jennie, come with me. I want to introduce you to someone very special—my best friend."

Jennie, curious but confused, rose from her seat as the rest of the family followed. She glanced at Mr. Bae, tilting her head slightly. "Does your best friend live here?"

Mr. Bae nodded, but Jennie noticed a flicker of sadness in his eyes. Her brows furrowed, and she asked, "Then why didn’t they join us for dinner?"

A heavy silence fell over the room. Mrs. Bae, Irene, and Suji all shared the same somber expression. Mr. Bae simply said, "You’ll understand soon. Everything I am today... is because of my best friend."

Jennie followed quietly, feeling the weight in the air. Mr. Bae led the group down a hallway and into a room. On one of the walls was a large photo frame—inside was a picture of Mr. Bae standing next to a man Jennie recognized immediately.

Her breath caught in her throat. She froze, her heart racing as tears began welling up in her eyes. She didn’t show her shock, but the emotion was too powerful to keep at bay.

"This is my best friend, Kim Soo-hyun," Mr. Bae said, his voice cracking with emotion. "We’ve been best friends since high school, but..." His voice trailed off as tears began streaming down his face.

Jennie stood there, tears silently falling as she stared at the photo. Kim Soo-hyun... her father. The man she lost in a tragic accident.

Whispering so quietly it was almost inaudible, Jennie said, "Dad..."

Mr. Bae, Mrs. Bae, Irene, and Suji all turned to look at her, their expressions shifting to one of concern and confusion. Jennie couldn’t hold back anymore, the dam of emotion breaking. She sobbed softly, eyes fixed on her father’s smiling face in the photo.

"I missed you, Dad," Jennie whispered, her voice trembling as the tears continued to fall.

Irene quickly wrapped her arms around Jennie, pulling her into a comforting hug as Jennie’s emotions overwhelmed her. The room was filled with shock and sadness. No one had known that Jennie, the daughter of Kim Soo-hyun, had endured such a painful past.

Mr. Bae stood there, tears welling up in his eyes as the realization hit him. Kim Soo-hyun had been one of the wealthiest and most influential men of his time, and yet his daughter, Jennie, had suffered so much after his untimely death.

Irene gently guided Jennie to the couch, helping her sit down as everyone’s eyes remained fixed on her. Suji, who had been watching quietly from the side, felt her heart ache at the sight of Jennie’s tears. She had never seen her so vulnerable before, and it hurt to see her in such pain.

Mr. Bae, trying to compose himself but failing as his voice cracked with emotion, finally asked, "Jennie… are you really Kim Soo-hyun’s daughter? Jennie Ruby Jane Kim?"

Jennie wiped her tears, biting her lower lip to steady herself, then gave a small nod. "Yeah... he’s my dad," she whispered, her voice heavy with grief. "My mom and dad… they both died in a car accident when I was just 10 years old."

The room fell into a deep silence as everyone processed what Jennie had just revealed. It wasn’t just about the wealth or status her father once had; it was about the pain she had carried for so long, hidden behind her usual strength.

Mrs. Bae, with tears in her own eyes, slowly approached Jennie and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Jennie, I had no idea... I’m so sorry," she whispered softly, her voice full of sympathy.
