𝑨𝒖𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒓'𝒔 𝑷𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆:
It had been three days since Jisoo caught Lisa and Mingyu at the hotel. Mingyu had taken Lisa there for a business meeting, but before the client arrived, Jisoo had witnessed something that set her blood boiling-Mingyu kissing Lisa. She clenched her fists in anger, her jaw tightening as she recalled Jennie's face, the pain her cousin had silently endured for far too long. And now, seeing Lisa betray her so openly made Jisoo's anger reach a boiling point.
Lisa hadn't even kissed Mingyu back. She quickly pulled away, but the damage was done. As she looked up, her heart sank. Jisoo was standing there, her eyes burning with rage. Lisa gulped, frozen in shock, but before she could say anything, Jisoo turned and walked away.
Lisa's throat went dry. She mumbled something to Mingyu. "I-I'll be right back... just going to the restroom."
"Okay, babe. Don't take too long, though. The client will be here any minute," Mingyu said with a confident grin, completely unaware of the storm brewing.
Lisa nodded weakly, then hurriedly followed Jisoo. She called out softly, almost desperately, "Jisoo unnie!"
Jisoo spun around, fury blazing in her eyes. "What do you want, huh? Shouldn't you be with your boyfriend?" The word boyfriend came out as a sneer, dripping with disdain.
Lisa flinched, her tears threatening to spill. "Please, unnie, let me explain. It's not what it looks like!"
Jisoo scoffed bitterly, her voice sharp like a knife. "Oh really? You think I'm a fool, Lisa? Or are you just so used to treating Jennie like one that you think I'm no different?"
Lisa's breath hitched. "It wasn't like that, unnie! I-"
"You've been cheating on Jennie for months," Jisoo cut her off, stepping closer. "The woman who loves you more than anyone in this world. And you think you can brush it off as a misunderstanding?" Jisoo's voice cracked, tears welling in her eyes, but they were tears of anger. "Do you have any idea how much Jennie has suffered because of you? Do you even care?"
Lisa felt her chest tighten. Her own tears broke free as she whispered, "I don't know, unnie. I don't know what happened to me. I got so caught up in wanting more-more money, more success. I thought I could love him... but now I know. I know it was all wrong. I only ever loved Jennie." Her voice cracked as she admitted, "I love Jennie more than anything. I've made a terrible mistake, unnie. I regret everything."
Jisoo shook her head in disbelief. "A mistake? That's what you call it? A 'mistake'? Cheating isn't a mistake, Lisa! It's a choice. You made the conscious decision to betray Jennie, to destroy her trust, her love. And for what? Some cheap thrill? To impress your rich boyfriend ?" Her voice dripped with sarcasm.
Lisa sobbed openly now, trying to find the words. "Unnie, I-"
"Shut up," Jisoo snapped. "I don't want to hear your pathetic excuses. Do you even know what Jennie has been through? Do you even realize how much you've broken her? She knows, Lisa. She's known for weeks that you've been cheating, but she still held on. She loved you so much she was willing to endure that kind of pain for you!"
Lisa's world spun. "She... she knows?" Her voice trembled. "For how long?"
Jisoo's eyes burned with tears as she answered, "For three weeks now. Three excruciating weeks. And every day, she chooses to smile in front of you, even though she's dying inside."
Lisa stumbled backward, her heart pounding in her chest. Jennie had known all this time? She thought she was hiding it, keeping her affair a secret-but Jennie had known, and she hadn't said a word. She could barely breathe, her mind reeling with guilt and shame.
