Kim Seung Woo sat in his study room, his gaze fixated on the photo frame in his hands-а picture of Jennie's mother, Kim Ji Won.

His mind drifted into the past, bringing flashes of memories he had buried deep. His heart was heavy with two conflicting emotions-hatred for Kim Soo Hyun, his former best friend, and undying love for Kim Ji Won, the only woman he had ever truly cared for.

Flashback: College Days

It was a crisp morning on campus. Kim Seung Woo and Kim Soo Hyun were walking toward the courtyard when they heard someone call from behind.

“Morning, lazy boys!” Mr. Bae’s voice rang out playfully.

Seung Woo groaned, throwing his head back in mock frustration. “Ugh, Bae, I’ve told you a thousand times—we are not lazy! You just love insulting us!”

“Yeah, yeah,” Soo Hyun added with a chuckle. “Cut us some slack, man.”

Mr. Bae smirked, clearly enjoying himself. “Okay, okay, fine! But listen—I’ve got two pieces of great news that’ll make your day.”

“Yeah? What now?” Seung Woo asked, rolling his eyes but smiling nonetheless.

Mr. Bae crossed his arms and leaned in slightly, as if sharing a juicy secret. “Alright, first... my brother is finally coming back from London tomorrow. And—guess what? He’s enrolling in our college.”

Soo Hyun gave a small nod. “That’s cool. What’s the second thing?”

A mischievous grin spread across Mr. Bae’s face. “This one’s big—the daughter of the country’s number one businessman just joined our college.” He gave them a teasing wink.

Before Soo Hyun could respond, Seung Woo’s eyes lit up with excitement. “Wait... Are you talking about—Kim Ji Won?” he asked eagerly, leaning closer. “The queen of beauty?”

The mention of her name was enough to make Soo Hyun’s stomach twist. His heart raced.

“Yeah, that’s the one,” Mr. Bae confirmed with a nod. He leaned back in his chair dramatically. “But here’s the catch—the guys on campus are losing their minds over her, but guess what? She’s not giving anyone the time of day. Girl’s got serious attitude.”

Seung Woo grinned to himself, trying to hide the sparkle in his eyes. He had loved Ji Won in secret for so long, but never dared to tell anyone. “Attitude suits beautiful girls,” he said softly, a dreamy look on his face.

Meanwhile, Soo Hyun sat stiffly, fighting the urge to react. His mind was spinning. The girl everyone was talking about wasn’t just some distant crush—she was his girlfriend.

Their love story had begun on Jeju Island, where they’d first met by chance. Ji Won had been the one to confess her feelings, and though Soo Hyun had been too scared at first, he eventually told her the truth—he had fallen for her, too. And now, she was here, in his college, just for him.

But no one could know. Their relationship had to stay a secret.

Seung Woo glanced at him, noticing his friend’s strange expression. “Why do you look like you’ve seen a ghost?” he teased.

Soo Hyun quickly snapped out of it, forcing a chuckle. “What? Me? I’m fine. Just... tired. Let’s not make a big deal out of it, okay? Let’s head to the cafeteria before class starts.”
