Jennie stepped out of the VIP hospital room, leaning against the wall as she answered the call. "Hello, unnie?"
On the other end, Jisoo’s slightly frustrated voice came through. "Jendeuk! Where are you? I’ve been ringing your doorbell for ages, but you’re not answering!"
Jennie sighed, rubbing her temple. “Unnie, why are you standing outside my apartment right now? And what are you doing there?”
“It’s a long story, but just open the door, okay?” Jisoo urged.
Jennie glanced at the hospital entrance and let out another breath. “Unnie, I’m not in my apartment. I’m not even in Korea.”
There was a brief silence before Jisoo asked, “Then where are you?”
“I’m in Italy… I found Lisa,” Jennie confessed quietly. “After signing those fake divorce papers, she left for Italy.”
A beat of silence passed, then Jisoo asked, “Okay, that’s good. But did you ask her why she hid her pregnancy from you? Or Mingyu just lied about the Lisa's pregnancy?”
Jennie’s heart felt heavy as she answered. “No… Mingyu didn’t lie. He told the truth.” She paused briefly before continuing, “Lisa is pregnant… with my triplets.”
Jisoo’s gasp was loud enough to hear clearly through the phone. “What?! Triplets? Are you serious?”
Jennie smiled softly, though her emotions were still raw. “Yeah… triplets.”
“Jendeuk, that’s amazing! I’m so happy for you!” Jisoo’s voice brimmed with excitement. “You’ve always wanted a big family. Now you’ll finally have it.”
“Thanks, unnie,” Jennie whispered, though the joy was tinged with worry. She took a deep breath before adding, “But Lisa… she’s in the hospital right now. I’m really scared.”
Jisoo’s tone shifted immediately. “Hospital? What happened?”
“There was… bleeding,” Jennie whispered, her voice breaking. “She collapsed, and the doctors said her condition is serious. I’m trying to stay strong, but I don’t know what will happen. I’ve never been this scared.”
Jisoo’s heart ached hearing the fear in Jennie’s voice. “Jendeuk-ah… I know this is hard, but Lisa’s tough. She’s going to pull through, okay? You just have to believe that.”
Jennie wiped the tears gathering in her eyes. “I hope so, unnie… I can’t lose her. Not now, not when we’re so close to starting our family.”
“You won’t,” Jisoo reassured her. “Just stay by her side. She needs you now more than ever. And those babies? They need both of you.”
Jennie nodded, even though Jisoo couldn’t see her. “I’ll do whatever it takes, unnie… I just want her and our babies to be safe.”
“You’re not alone, Jen,” Jisoo reminded her gently. “I’m here for you every step of the way.”
Jennie swallowed hard, her heart both heavy and hopeful. “Thank you, unnie… I really needed to hear that.”
“Anytime, Jendeuk. Stay strong—and give Lisa and the babies my love, okay?”
“I will,” Jennie whispered before ending the call, her fingers trembling slightly. She stared at the phone in her hand, knowing the road ahead would be challenging. But no matter what, she was ready to fight for her family.
