Jungkook jumped down from the one-hand-high wall of the house and slowly made his way to the back gate with the bag slung over his shoulder. By now, the darkness had faded, and a faint light had begun to spread. It had snowed all night, and the gentle snowfall still continued around him. Wrapping his muffler tighter around himself along the sweater, Jungkook approached the gate.
To reach the front gate, he would have to pass through the guards at the outer door, followed by the guards stationed near the main gate.
There were supposed to be guards at the back door and the gate, but today, to his surprise, there were none. He had thought it would be tough to get out with all the guards, but his suspicion was proven wrong. There were no guards, and the gate was conveniently left open. It seemed as if someone had deliberately made it easy for Jungkook to escape. Without overthinking, he quietly slipped out through the gate, not realizing that someone had set a trap for him.
A guard, watching Jungkook leaving, called his boss on the phone and informed,
--" Young master, Mrs. Kim has left the house and everything went just as you planned.
📞: The person other side said something ~~
--" Understood, young master. We are keeping him under surveillance.
The person on the other side of the call, Taehyung, chuckled darkly and hung up the phone.
The next morning,
Mrs. Jeon entered Jungkook's room to wake him up, but Jungkook was nowhere to be found. She searched the balcony, the washroom, and the entire house, but Jungkook was gone. She grew increasingly anxious but didn't dare ask the guards outside, as they were all appointed by Taehyung. If she asked them about Jungkook, they would definitely report back to him, and the very thought made her shiver. Instead, she rushed upstairs and shook Jisoo awake, pulling her out of bed.
Jisoo, still groggy, looked up at her mother, confused,
--" What's going on, eomma? Why are you acting like it's an emergency so early in the morning?
Mrs. Jeon, now frantic, replied angrily,
--" Where is Jungkook, Jisoo?
Jisoo, clearly annoyed, responded,
--" I don't know, eomma. How would I know where Jungkook is?
Mrs. Jeon, not convinced, grabbed Jisoo's arm and pulled her closer.
--" You know everything, Jisoo. Now tell me, where is Jungkook? If you don't tell me, I won't hesitate to raise my hand on you.
Jisoo, losing her patience, finally burst out,
--" YES, yes, I know where Jungkook is! I helped him escape from this hell. I can't stand to see my own brother live in torment like this any longer. I'd rather see him dead than continue living like this.
Before she could finish, Mrs. Jeon slapped Jisoo hard across the face. Jisoo looked down, tears welling up in her eyes. Mrs. Jeon, crying as well, screamed in despair,
--" WHAT HAVE YOU DONE, JISOO? What have you done? Do you know, by trying to save your brother, you've pushed him into the jaws of death?
Hearing this, Jisoo looked at her mother in shock. Mrs. Jeon, through her tears, continued,
--" You think you helped Jungkook escape, don't you? But no, you're wrong. It wasn't you who helped him to leave, it was Taehyung. You don't understand, do you..?
Jisoo shook her head, confused.
--" You've unknowingly started a dangerous game, and now your own brother is a pawn in it.
