Chapter - 33

Jungkook was trembling with fear. Taehyung held him tightly, pressing his arms hard to keep Jungkook close to him. Jungkook couldn’t look into Taehyung's eyes out of fear. His face was fiercely red with anger, and seeing Taehyung's furious expression made him shiver even more. Taehyung’s hot breath brushed against Jungkook’s face, making him even more terrified. He turned his face away, unable to look at the awakened tiger, certain he’d face severe consequences.

Taehyung grasped Jungkook's face with one hand, turning it towards him as he spoke in a tense voice, gritting his teeth.

--" What did you just say? Repeat it.

Seeing Jungkook begin to cry, Taehyung snapped, “—Don't shed tears, Jungkook, the punishment will be severe if you do.” He wiped away Jungkook's tears and, in a calm voice, said,

--" What were you saying before?

--" I-I didn’t say anything! Truly.

Jungkook replied in a shaky voice.

“—Hush.” Taehyung said, putting a finger on Jungkook’s lips who lowered his gaze down, sniffling. The elder wrapped his arm around Jungkook’s waist, pulling him closer, and said,

--" Now tell me, what were you saying?

Gathering courage, Jungkook gulped and stammered,

--" Why did y-you want to k-kill that man in t-the garden?

Taehyung looked at Jungkook and calmly said,

--" He’s alive. But he deserved worse.

Hearing this, Jungkook gulped again, asking in a trembling voice,

--" Why are you doing this? Pl-Please don’t.” Tears streamed down his face.

Taehyung wiped away Jungkook's tears, pulling him closer. He tucked a strand of hair behind Jungkook’s ear and looked at him with a gentle smile, saying,

--" Anyone who does wrong must be punished, in my way. You know that well, Jungkook.

--" What did he do to make you react this way?

Jungkook asked, his voice quivering.

Taehyung chuckled and said,

--" Well, you’re starting to sound like a proper spouse now. Good.”

He planted a kiss on Jungkook’s forehead and smiled,

--" My little one.

Placing his hands on Jungkook’s cheeks, he continued softly,

--" You have every right to know everything about us, love. Ask whatever you wish, and I’ll tell you.

Taehyung's face glowed with happiness as if Jungkook’s simple words had fulfilled a deep, long-held desire. He always wanted their relationship to be open and natural, yet something or other always disrupted it. His intense anger often became a source of fear for Jungkook, causing distance between them.

Lowering his head, Jungkook, trembling, asked again,

--" Why did you hurt that man like that?

Taehyung ran his fingers through Jungkook’s hairs, calming him. While twisting the strands around his finger, he spoke softly,

--" Do you remember the elderly man who came to see you the day you arrived here?

Jungkook nodded in agreement.

--" That old man, whom everyone calls the gardener uncle, used to look after our garden in this old Kim mansion. He no longer works here because he’s too old and unwell. That day, he came to me for help…
